To advance in No Rest for the Wicked and escape dungeons, you’ll need to find several keys. For example, the Western Bridge Key is essential for accessing the western part of the Shallows.
You’ll find an important key in one of the early dungeons, but it’s hidden and requires some preparation. Make sure to gather a few tools before you go in.
Here’s a guide to finding the Rusted Barnacle Key in No Rest for the Wicked, and what you’ll need it for.
Locating the Rusted Barnacle Key
Before you use the Rusted Barnacle Key to enter the dungeon, make sure you’re at a good level and have a torch. The dungeon isn’t too hard, but it’s best to be between level eight and ten before you go in.
If you make mistakes when choosing character upgrades, you can reset them. Once you’ve gained enough levels, finding a torch will be very helpful.
Torches are readily available in Sacrament. You can buy one from a shopkeeper, such as the blacksmith.
If you prefer not to use a torch, you can also illuminate your way with a light rune or a light spell, especially if you’re carrying a staff or wand.
Now that you’re ready, head into the dungeon right beside the Saltborn Tower Whisper in the Shallows. You’ll find a hatch leading down into it.
Once you’re inside the dungeon, head down to the lowest level by carefully jumping down the platforms and stairs. Be careful – there are lots of enemies throughout the dungeon!
While exploring the dungeon, remember to open chests – they might contain valuable items like Research Papers and Embers.
Once you get to the flooded bottom of the dungeon, head up the winding stairs. This will take you down another set of stairs into a room full of enemies and a locked door.
After going down the stairs, look for a small tunnel nearby. Crawl through the tunnel, and you’ll find yourself in a room where the Rusted Barnacle Key is located in the center.
Where to Use the Rusted Barnacle Key
Okay, so I’ve got the Rusted Barnacle Key now! Time to head back up those stairs I used to get down here. Then, I need to follow the path down the other set of stairs – that’ll lead me back to the water area in the dungeon. Let’s go!
You’ll find a door with a torch beside it. This is the door the Rusted Barnacle Key unlocks.
This room sometimes contains useful items, but it’s not always stocked. The main draw is a chest which might hold valuable things like Embers and other helpful gear.
