Where to find the Key of Apostate in Hollow Knight: Silksong – The Slab locked doors guide

The Slab is a region within Pharloom that’s worth exploring, especially if you want to unlock the double jump ability with the Faydown Cloak. As you explore, you’ll find items like the Key of Indolent and the Key of Heretic. Keep in mind that some doors need a different key – the Key of Apostate – to open.

Key of Apostate location

Okay, so I’ve been exploring and finally found the Key of Apostate in Silksong! It’s hidden in the Putrefied Ducts, which is way up in the top-right corner of the map. Definitely a tricky spot to get to, but so worth it!

  • You can either take the lower-right exit from Memorium or the topmost exit from Bilewater.
  • Putrefied Ducts has numerous hazards, including carnivorous vines that pull at gobble up Hornet. Once you reach the zone, you need to go to the lower-left section of the zone. It’s also where you’ll meet the Huntress NPC for the Broodfeast quest.
  • The Key of Apostate is in a small nook at the upper-left corner of the chamber.

What lies beyond the Key of Apostate rooms

After you get the Hollow Knight: Silksong Key of Apostate, return to The Slab. You’ll now be able to open the last two locked doors.

  • The door at the bottom of the shaft–i.e. the one that’s closest to the bench and fast travel point–leads to an eerie chamber with a cell with multiple chains. If you break these chains, you can battle the First Sinner boss. Defeating her nets you the Rune Rage silk skill.
  • The door at the top-right portion of the shaft has a fairly annoying jumping/traversal segment. Your goal is to pogo on the spinning bladed wheel. Once you get to the very top, you’ll find a Mask Shard health upgrade.
