In No Rest for the Wicked, you’ll need to collect different resources. Some, like Saltstone, help you improve the town of Sacrament, and others are used to make your equipment even better.
Embers are a key resource in the game. You’ll find different types, and you’ll use them to improve your equipment through enchantments.
These rare materials can be tough to find in No Rest for the Wicked. Here’s a look at some of the most effective ways to collect Embers.
Types of Embers

No Rest for the Wicked now features several different kinds of Embers. When the game first launched, only Fallen Embers were available, but the recent Together Update introduced new Embers and the option to play the game online with friends.
| Ember | Effect |
|---|---|
| Fallen Ember | Adds enchantments to items or can be used to alter existing enchantments. |
| Corrupting Ember | Used to corrupt a common item with dark essence, enhancing it to Plagued rarity. |
| Void Ember | Used to disenchant items, returning them to common status. |
| Awakening Ember | Transforms a common item into a magical item. |
| Essence Ember | Absorbs an enchantment, allowing you to transfer it to another item. |
| Radiant Ember | Used to strengthen an enchantment’s effect. |
| Sublime Ember | Used to amplify an effect on a fully enchanted item. |
These different types of Embers can help you improve your equipment or modify its magical properties. While Fallen Embers are the most frequently found, you’ll acquire all Ember types through the same methods.
Collecting Embers From Chests
In No Rest for the Wicked, finding Embers relies on luck, as all loot is random. You’ll earn them primarily by beating enemies and opening chests, which are found in different sizes all over the game world.
The chests reappear after a certain period, so you can collect from them repeatedly each day. While bigger chests have a better chance of containing Embers, it’s worth checking both large and small chests.
If you’re trying to farm Embers, I’ve found a really good route through the Orban Glades. There are around 20 chests scattered around there, and I usually get a nice little stack of Embers every time I run the whole area. It’s a pretty reliable way to stock up!
You might also find Embers dropped by the enemies here. After you finish up in this area, consider exploring the Nameless Path – it has a lot of chests to discover.
Obtaining Embers From the Crucible
It’s not practical to spend all your time gathering chests. They refresh on a timer, meaning you can only open each one about once an hour.

After completing Embers routes, the Crucible is the next best way to earn more. It’s a challenging area where you fight through rooms of enemies for extra rewards.
As you play, you’ll find a room filled with chests and a boss battle. Defeating the boss and opening the chests offers a decent chance to earn Embers, though not as many as you’d get by exploring the map directly.
