When will Avatar: Fire and Ash release on Disney Plus?

James Cameron’s latest Avatar film has earned over $1 billion worldwide, and viewers are eager to find out when it will be available to stream on Disney+.

The new movie plunges Pandora into a full-scale war. The Resources Development Administration begins using increasingly aggressive methods to attack Jake Sully, Sam Worthington, and his family as they fight to protect their planet from colonization. To gain an edge, Colonel Quaritch teams up with Varang, the leader of the Ash people, and exploits their fierce and fiery temperament against the other Na’vi clans.

Sigourney Weaver had previously said the future of Avatar 4 and 5 was uncertain, but with the third film now earning over a billion dollars, those sequels are looking more likely.

Until 20th Century Studios and Disney announce what they plan to do with the next Avatar movie, fans will have to enjoy it by watching it at home when it becomes available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Disney+. Here’s the information on when Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to stream on Disney+.

When is Avatar: Fire and Ash on Disney Plus?

We expect to see Avatar: Fire and Ash on Disney+ sometime between April and June 2026. While Disney hasn’t officially announced a release date for streaming, they usually add new theatrical releases to Disney+ about three or four months after they hit theaters. For instance, Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which came out in July 2025, was available to stream on Disney+ in November of the same year.

Interestingly, Cameron’s previous film, Avatar: The Way of Water, was an exception to the usual release pattern. Disney held off on streaming the sequel for nearly six months, but that was because it was still performing very well in theaters and making a lot of money. It’s worth noting that it had been 13 years since the original Avatar film when The Way of Water was released in 2022.

While Avatar: Fire and Ash is currently successful in theaters, it’s not matching the performance of the first Avatar film. We’ll let you know as soon as Disney+ announces when it will be available to stream.

How to watch Avatar: Fire and Ash

Avatar: Fire and Ash premiered in cinemas on December 19th, and it’s still showing on large screens as the director, James Cameron, envisioned.

Although the movie sequel received mixed reviews – earning a 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – critics generally liked its impressive visuals and special effects. While the story didn’t wow everyone, the film is still visually stunning.
