South Park is jumping ahead to Season 28, starting with an episode originally planned for Season 27. There was a slight delay, but the new episode should be available soon – here’s how and when you can watch it.
Now that the deal is done, South Park will remain on Paramount for the next five years, instead of HBO Max. And creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are delivering a particularly exciting Season 27.
We’ve witnessed a series of bizarre and outlandish events: Randy transforming into a stereotypical tech enthusiast, Kristi Noem shooting her dog, the FCC chairman claiming his free speech was violated, and a completely fabricated story about the president and Satan having a child.
We have a lot more coming, and while there’s been a small delay, it won’t be long before you receive it – it’s not another full week away.
South Park Season 28 Episode 2 release date & time
The second episode of South Park Season 28 will premiere on Comedy Central on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 10 PM Eastern Time / 9 PM Central Time. Following its broadcast, it’s expected to be available to stream on Paramount+ starting Saturday, November 1, at 6 AM Eastern Time / 5 AM Central Time.

Instead of a new episode, Comedy Central will be showing reruns all day, including last week’s episode from Season 28. Then, at 10:30 PM Eastern Time, a new episode of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head from Season 3 will air, immediately followed by The Daily Show at 11:00 PM Eastern Time.
If Season 28 had been released like Season 27, the new episode would have aired on September 3rd. Even with the revised schedule, it was originally planned for October 29th. But why is it being released even later than that?
Season 28 Episode 2 delay explained

So, the new episode’s taking a bit longer to drop, and here’s why: it’s a Halloween special! Stone and Parker decided to release Season 28, Episode 2 on Halloween night itself, instead of our regular Wednesday release. I’m totally okay with that, honestly – a Halloween drop is awesome!
Like the earlier delays, this one comes down to the show’s creators needing extra time to ensure the quality is up to standard. The initial plan for Season 27 to release weekly was unrealistic for everyone involved.
This animated show is known for being made incredibly quickly – episodes go from being written to airing in just a few days. This speed lets the creators react to news and trends as they happen, but it also means production sometimes gets held up.
So, back in July, after the first few episodes of Season 27 had a bit of a delay – a two-week gap, actually – someone in the know told Deadline that the episodes this year are just taking longer to make. They need extra time to finish everything up, apparently.

There’s a lot happening with Trump right now, even within a single day. We’re not going to rush things and risk getting the details wrong. If that means taking more time to produce the show, we’re willing to do that.
A source at Skydance Paramount said they’re happy with the show’s success and are flexible with the season length. They’re willing to accommodate a 20-week season with 10 episodes if that’s what the network wants, given the strong viewership and positive attention the show is receiving.
After Episode 4, there was a three-week break before Episode 5 aired. During that time, several major news stories emerged, including the passing of Charlie Kirk, which led Comedy Central to remove a South Park episode referencing him, and a debate over the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel.
South Park fans were eagerly awaiting the release of Episode 5 in September. But just before it was scheduled to air, Comedy Central announced that the show would continue on Wednesday, September 24th, at 10 PM Eastern and Pacific time.

Parker and Stone released a statement saying they missed their deadline because they waited until the last minute. They take full responsibility and thanked Comedy Central and South Park fans for their patience. They promised to be back next week!
While delays were expected, rumors circulated that the project faced potential censorship, particularly following the issues with Jimmy Kimmel and because the merger between Paramount and Skydance needed government approval.
Stone told The Denver Post that the episode wasn’t pulled or censored in any way. He emphasized they would have spoken up if that had happened, but simply ran out of time to finish it. He admitted it was a result of waiting until the last minute, and sometimes that leads to mistakes.
Okay, so the show is going back to releasing new episodes every two weeks, which is great! But because the last episode came out right around Halloween, we had to wait an extra two days for it – a little bit of a trick-or-treat delay, I guess!
The switch from Season 27 to Season 28 explained

There’s a bit of confusion about the latest episode numbering. Last week’s episode was initially expected to be episode six of season twenty-seven, but it’s now officially labeled as the first episode of season twenty-eight. According to a source who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, this was intentional – the show will release both seasons twenty-seven and twenty-eight with only five episodes each.
It seems the reports that Season 27 would have 10 episodes were incorrect. This doesn’t explain why the season was cut short, especially since major storylines are still unresolved – the antichrist plot is ongoing, and Towelie is still trapped in the White House.
Okay, so this is weird. Apparently, Peter Thiel has some thoughts on the Antichrist, and he’s actually discussing it! And, heads up for anyone who wants to check it out, the latest episode of South Park is available to stream on Paramount+ now.

The first episode of Season 28 finishes with a dramatic cliffhanger. The show continues to explore the idea of the antichrist, and Peter Thiel now thinks Cartman might actually be the solution. Interestingly, Jesus takes a surprising turn, becoming something of a stereotypical ‘Christian bro’.
The big question now is why Season 27 concluded as it did. One funny fan theory suggests it’s a reference to the strange ‘6-7’ trend mentioned in last week’s episode.
It seems like episodes 1 and 2 of Season 28 would have originally been episodes 6 and 7 of Season 27, leading some to wonder if this is a joke. One Reddit user pointed out that the two-part episode will span the 6th and 7th episodes, and another responded that this explains why it’s being labeled as Season 28.
Right now, this is just guessing, but considering Parker and Stone are known for playfully provoking people, it wouldn’t be shocking if it turned out to be true.
What is the new South Park episode about?
I’m so excited for the next episode of the show! It’s going to be a Halloween special, but it’s not just spooky fun. Apparently, it’s going to continue some storylines they’ve been building up, and Comedy Central just announced the title: ‘The Woman in the Hat.’ From what I understand, it’s all about what Trump did to the East Wing of the White House last week – it sounds wild!
I’m so excited for the new South Park season! From what I’ve read, it sounds like the White House is going to be dealing with some serious chaos coming from someone in the East Wing. And apparently, Stan is starting to think the show has gotten too political – which is wild to even say about South Park, honestly!
On October 29th, a trailer for a new South Park episode was released, hinting at a chaotic storyline. It begins with a séance held at the White House, including appearances by Brendan Carr, JD Vance, Kristi Noem, Donald Trump, and Donald Trump Jr.

The scene changes to Randy telling Stan they’ve run out of money and will be moving in with his dad – Grandpa Marsh is returning, and he’s even more irritable than before. Meanwhile, at the White House, tests on a strange sample called “rectoplasm” surprisingly show it’s made up of 54% Filet-O-Fish, likely a nod to Donald Trump’s well-known fondness for that McDonald’s sandwich.
To make matters worse, Trump completely ruins Towelie’s appearance – and it doesn’t look like he’ll recover quickly. One viewer commented online, saying, “They really mistreated Towelie, and I mean really mistreated him.”
Someone commented that Towlie had just finished a thorough flossing, while another playfully questioned the creators, Matt and Trey, asking why they would subject the character to that.
