The title Crime 101 has two meanings. It refers to the fact that jewel thief Mike Davis (Chris Hemsworth) is an expert at pulling off robberies – he’s mastered the fundamentals. It also refers to the U.S. Route 101 highway, along which he commits most of his crimes, stretching through Oregon, California, and Washington. Detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo) is on his trail, leading to a classic cat-and-mouse chase.
Right now, you can only see Crime 101 in movie theaters. It first premiered in London on January 28, 2026, and then became available in the United States through Amazon MGM Studios on February 13, 2026. But don’t worry – just like catching a criminal, the movie will be available for streaming and rental soon, so you’ll be able to watch it at home. The big question is: how long will fans of Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo have to wait?
When Will ‘Crime 101’ Be Available To Stream?

Amazon MGM Studios
Chris Hemsworth’s new action film, Crime 101, was a joint effort between several production companies, including MGM, Working Title Films, The Story Factory, and Wild State Raw. MGM played the biggest role in making the movie, and as a result, it will be available to stream on Prime Video in North America after it finishes playing in theaters.
Prior to Amazon’s 2021 acquisition of MGM, the studio licensed its content to many different streaming platforms. Since the $8.45 billion purchase, though, Amazon has kept those rights within its own services. MGM+, previously known as Epix, is now a premium channel available through Prime Video—similar to how Hulu works with Disney+. While MGM+ handles some MGM titles, major MGM movies typically debut on Prime Video.
While a specific release date for Crime 101 hasn’t been announced, we can estimate when it might be available to stream. Based on how MGM movies have been released in the past, it typically takes between 40 and 75 days for them to become available on Prime Video after their theatrical release.
Several recent movies have followed a similar release pattern. The biographical film Sarah’s Oil came out in theaters on November 7th and started streaming on Prime Video on January 20, 2026. The thriller After the Hunt premiered on October 10th and was available to stream 41 days later, on November 20th. The Accountant 2 followed the same 41-day window, debuting in theaters on April 25th and on Prime Video on June 5th. Based on this trend, we can expect Crime 101 to become available for streaming between March 13th and April 26th.
When Will ‘Crime 101’ Be Available Digitally?

Merrick Morton
Okay, so Crime 101 is following the usual playbook these days – it’ll hit digital streaming pretty quickly after its theatrical run. Looking at how MGM typically handles releases, I’d expect it to be available for premium video on demand – things like renting it digitally – somewhere between three and five weeks after it leaves cinemas. It’s the standard now, sadly – you don’t have to wait too long to watch at home!
In 2025, Amazon MGM released movies for digital purchase and rental much faster than most other major studios, typically around 36 days after their theatrical release. They prioritize capitalizing on initial excitement and boosting digital sales. Sometimes, they even bypass traditional digital rental options altogether, sending films directly to Prime Video within weeks of their cinema debut to attract more streaming subscribers, as they did with the poorly received film, After the Hunt.

Jason Statham’s action movie, A Working Man, first hit theaters on March 26th and then became available to stream or purchase digitally on April 15th, about 20 days later. The Accountant 2 premiered on April 25th, and viewers could rent or buy it starting May 20th, roughly 25 days after its premiere. In contrast, Sarah’s Oil premiered in theaters on November 7th and will be available for digital purchase or rental on December 2, 2025.
Viewers can likely expect Crime 101 to become available within a 25-day period starting around March 5th and extending to March 8th, 2026.
