What You Might Have Missed From the PlayStation State of Play

Yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play event showcased approximately forty minutes filled with announcements, unveilings, and more. Among these were announcements such as the release date for Borderlands 4, the upcoming game in The Dark Pictures Anthology series, a fresh trailer that altered the mood of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and the next game from the creators of Returnal. However, there are also numerous other thrilling announcements you might have overlooked.

Highlights you might have missed from the PlayStation State of Play

Toward the start of the presentation, spectators were initially introduced to the announcement trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. This kart racer appears to feature all the popular Sonic characters, and each competition will be held across diverse worlds by employing ring portals to move between them. However, this is merely an announcement with no confirmed release date as of now.

Alongside Sega, we also have Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. This announcement trailer is part of Sega’s revival of its vintage games, unveiled at the 2023 Game Awards. Regardless of whether you were a player of the original or not, this 2D action platformer boasts an appealing art style and promises an exhilarating reprisal of the series, which hasn’t had a new game since 2011.

For enthusiasts of 3D action games, a fresh trailer for Hell Is Us by developer Rogue Factor was unveiled during the State of Play event, along with a release date of September 4th, 2025. This unique action game showcases some peculiar storylines and characters, making it difficult to fully grasp the narrative in this new trailer, but the action looks fantastic. If you were a fan of the 2023 souls-like game, Lies of P, inspired by Pinocchio, you’ll be thrilled to hear that DLC is on the horizon. A new trailer showcased Lies of P: Overture, which will transport players to chilly winter landscapes and offer tougher boss fights against unusual characters.

In a rather surprising turn of events, it’s Konami that’s making waves (pun intended)! The sneak peek into their upcoming game, “Darwin’s Paradox!” has me hooked, as it places me in the role of an octopus! This action-adventure platformer challenges me to navigate and survive the surface world using stealth and camouflage. While it might seem unusual, the gameplay looks promising indeed.

Other less prominent games were given some attention too. The enigmatic puzzle-adventure game Blue Prince, developed by Dogubomb, is about constructing and exploring a mansion in sequence. On the other hand, from developer Moon Hood, The Midnight Walk has set its release date for May 8th, 2025. This eerie adventure with Claymation aesthetics is brought to us by the creators of Lost In Random and will be playable not only on PS VR2 but also other platforms.

In conclusion, the Tides of Annihilation trailer by Eclipse Glow Games left quite an impression with its gritty, apocalyptic depiction of a future London in this upcoming action-adventure title. The sneak peek reveals the main character employing spectral knights to battle foes, and also scaling towering beasts as they traverse the game’s environment. This is our initial glimpse at the game, but if its enticing trailer is any indication, it may soon capture the attention of gamers everywhere.
