What will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 be about? The Sworn Sword explained

Even though the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has finished, fans will be happy to hear that a second season is confirmed and currently being developed.

Now that the events of the Trial of Seven have concluded and Dunk and Egg are traveling together again, the next season will be based on ‘The Sworn Sword,’ the second story in the series.

Dunk’s strong sense of honor will be challenged again as he interacts with the powerful nobles of Westeros. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect in Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, including the plot and characters.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 plot explained

Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms picks up about a year and a half after the events of Season 1. Dunk and Egg are now in the Reach, working as squires for the elderly Ser Eustace Osgrey. While the Osgreys are an old and respected family, they’ve been without significant lands or power for hundreds of years, now owning only a small tower house.

So, things are rough – a massive drought is hitting, and when I came back with some wine for Ser Eustace, the stream near here had completely dried up. I didn’t buy the drought as the sole cause, so I started looking into it with Ser Bennis, another knight working for Eustace. We figured something else must be going on.

They soon learn that Lady Webber, a local landowner known for being intimidating, had a dam constructed. This blocked the water supply to Osgrey. When Ser Bennis attacks a worker who won’t dismantle the dam, the situation quickly spirals out of control.

Of course, it’s not as simple as it seems, but we won’t spoil the rest of the plot here.

Ira Parker, the showrunner, recently told The A.V. Club that they’re starting work on “The Sworn Sword,” which he considers a standout story. The novella features memorable characters like Rohanne Webber (also known as the Red Widow), Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace. Parker shared that they’ve cast three incredibly talented actors in these roles and is very enthusiastic about their performances, though he couldn’t reveal further details.

Which cast members will return?

Okay, so I’m really excited for Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but if it sticks to the books like everyone hopes, it sounds like we’ll only be seeing Peter Claffey as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg again. That’s a little disappointing, but I trust the source material, and I’m sure they’ll be fantastic!

These stories feel like a collection of self-contained adventures, each taking place in a different setting with a new set of characters. The only recurring figures are Dunk and Egg. In the second season, Lady Webber, Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace will be the main supporting characters.

Okay, so a lot of us really loved some of the actors from the first season – guys like Daniel Ings (who played Lyonel Baratheon), Sam Spruell (Maekar Targaryen), and Shaun Thomas (Raymun Fossoway). Because they were so popular, I’m hoping the show finds ways to bring those characters back and give them more to do. Fingers crossed!

The second season of the show is coming next year, but fans can look forward to season 3 of House of the Dragon this June, which will finally deliver the war everyone has been anticipating.
