Ryan Murphy is back with a new series called Monster: The Ed Gein Story, featuring Charlie Hunnam. It’s expected to be one of the most unsettling shows you’ll see in 2025. Here’s when you can start watching it on Netflix.
Whether you like it or not, the Monster true crime series is incredibly popular. The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is Netflix’s fourth most-watched English-language show ever, and the follow-up about the Menendez brothers earned 97.5 million views in just the first four days. It’s a ratings success.
Currently, Murphy is addressing what many consider the show’s most unsettling topic to date: Ed Gein. For those who don’t know, Gein was an American killer and grave robber who dug up bodies from nearby cemeteries and created mementos from their bones and skin.
His horrific acts served as the basis for some of the most well-known villains in horror films, such as Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs. Now, a dramatization based on his real-life story is being made.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story release date & time
Season 3 of Monster, focusing on the story of Ed Gein, will be available on Netflix starting Friday, October 3, 2025 at 12am PT / 3am ET. All episodes will be released simultaneously, so you’ll be able to binge-watch the entire season at once (if you’re brave enough!).
