Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen is adapting the ‘Culling Game Arc.’ Here’s information on where and when to watch Episode 5, plus a quick recap of the events from Episode 4.
Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen got a first look at Season 3 of the anime in late 2025 when the first two episodes were shown in movie theaters.
The movie, called Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, connected the storylines of the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game from the Shonen Jump manga, and earned over $40 million globally.
Fans of Greg Akutami’s manga can now continue the story with the first four episodes available, and the fifth episode coming out this week.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 5 drops on Crunchyroll on January 29, 2026, at 9am PT / 12pm ET.

What happened in Episode 4?
In the fourth episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, Maki faced her mother, dealt with a heartbreaking situation involving her sister, and began her mission to destroy the Zen’in clan.
The story begins with Maki returning to her family home, where she’s mistreated by Maoya. Her mother warns her to stay away from the vault, but Maki doesn’t listen and goes inside anyway.
Once inside, she finds her twin sister, Mai, badly hurt by their father, Ogi. He then attacks her, and imprisons both daughters in a room filled with dangerous, cursed spirits.
Mai ultimately gave her life to help Maki unlock her full power. She transferred a cursed sword and all of her cursed energy to Maki, enabling her to destroy the clan and fulfill her purpose. Maki then killed their father.
The battle has begun, with Maki swiftly defeating all of Kukuru’s guards. Powerful sorcerers are dispatched to stop her, but she defeats them as well, ultimately leading to a showdown with Naoya.
He relentlessly attacks her with rapid punches, but Maki is quicker. When he tries to deliver a fatal blow to her head, she retaliates by shattering his skull.
Maki discovers her mother and kills her, but in her final moments, the mother fatally stabs Naoya before succumbing to her own injuries. Grief-stricken, Maki carries Mai’s body away from the Zen’in compound, determined to continue her quest to dismantle the entire clan.
