Apple TV+ has quickly established itself as a top spot for high-quality television. We especially loved ‘Severance’ in 2025, and ‘Pluribus’ stood out as the best new series of the year.

We’re big fans of shows like Slow Horses, Platonic, Your Friends and Neighbors, Ted Lasso, Monarch: Legend of Monsters, and The Studio – which recently won several awards at the Golden Globes.

The first season of Hijack was very popular on the streaming service last year, and now a second season is coming with a fresh storyline and a new setting. Here’s what we’ve learned about it.

What happened at the end of Hijack Season 1?

In the finale of Hijack Season 1, Sam Nelson (Idris Elba), a negotiator for a major company, successfully helped land the hijacked plane and rescue all those on board.

As the situation with the hijacked plane, Flight KA29, became critical, it became clear the hijacking wasn’t an isolated incident. Investigators discovered it was connected to a larger criminal plot involving powerful people and attempts to gain political influence, and the plane was about to make a dangerous emergency landing.

Sam helped steer the plane away from a crash in central London, and despite running low on fuel, managed to land it safely at RAF Northolt.

Back on the ground, British intelligence urgently tried to discover the masterminds behind the hijacking. The investigation ultimately showed the hijacking wasn’t about money; it was a scheme to exploit the legal system and release prisoners.

Although the main terrorists were defeated or captured near the end, the people who were really pulling the strings were still free.

What to expect from Season 2

Season two of Hijack kicks off with a tense hostage situation on a Berlin subway train. As authorities race against time to rescue the passengers, Sam Nelson finds himself in the middle of the crisis, where a single mistake could have devastating consequences.

Initial videos seem to show Sam is the one hijacking the train, but it’s unclear why. He could be trying to achieve justice or get revenge, or he might be involved in something much bigger and more dangerous orchestrated by a criminal group. We don’t yet know his true motives.
