Even though David Dobrik is known as one of YouTube’s top creators, he stepped away from his primary channel for almost three years. However, he surprised fans by returning to the platform in early 2025, and his remarkable physical transformation sparked widespread attention.
David Dobrik is among the most influential YouTubers ever, boasting an astounding 17.4 million followers on his video channel.
Despite having a large following on YouTube, which is attributed to the Slovakia-born internet sensation, there was no new content uploaded to his primary channel from March 2022 until January 2025. This left his subscribers questioning why he hadn’t provided any updates for such an extended period.
So, why did David Dobrik stop posting, and what is he up to now? Here’s everything we know.
Why did David Dobrik stop posting YouTube videos?
Between March 2022 and January 2025, the 28-year-old diverted attention away from his YouTube channel towards managing a pizzeria and globetrotting.

On November 12, 2022, I embarked on a new venture, my LA-based pizzeria ‘Doughbrik’s’. As a pizza enthusiast who had spent months tasting and perfecting the recipe, it was only natural for me to take a break from creating videos to focus on this exciting endeavor.
Despite not posting new videos on his YouTube channel, David remained active on both Instagram and Snapchat, regularly sharing brief updates about his daily life in the form of vlogs.
Just before his comeback scheduled for 2025, his latest Instagram post went up on April 12, 2024. This wasn’t just an ordinary post; it was a video tour of the residence he was temporarily staying at during Coachella, in partnership with Guess Jeans.

Previously, he shared a new partnership with Celsius energy drinks a month prior, featuring his friend Vardan’s growth. Yet, his audience of over 10.1 million expressed disapproval towards these posts, commenting that he had “lost his touch” or “wasn’t as good as before.
In reality, he was also engaging in globe-trotting adventures and a challenging fitness regimen, all leading up to an impressive unveiling planned specifically for his passionate followers.
David Dobrik returns to YouTube after 3-year-hiatus
On the 6th of January, 2025, Dobrik shared a video on his TikTok account hinting at his upcoming YouTube video as a reply to a fan requesting a fresh vlog.
Tomorrow, on the 7th of January, I kept my word and shared an exciting 14-minute long video adventure. It documented my journey with my pals as we set out to explore each of the Seven Wonders of the World.
In the video, he not only gifted Tesla cars to workers at his Doughbrik’s pizzeria, but also teamed up with MrBeast to display his newly toned physique following his break from YouTube, where he focused on fitness.
wording suggestion: Rapidly, his amazing body change spread like wildfire on social platforms, causing many to express astonishment and some even questioning whether it was digitally enhanced (Photoshopped).
Vlog Squad controversy explained
In the wake of an event back in 2020, the YouTuber temporarily stopped appearing. This incident involved Dobrik’s friend and colleague, Jeff Wittek, getting hurt when swinging from a crane that Dobrik was controlling over a lake during a stunt for one of his videos.
Nearly blinding Wittek’s left eye in the accident, he required multiple operations to try and preserve his sight.
Apart from causing temporary harm to their friendship, the incident also left permanent scars. In June 2022, Wittek took legal action against the leader of The Vlog Squad, claiming $10 million in compensation for damages. Additionally, he openly criticized him, referring to him as a “scumbag” and severing their friendship.

In addition to being the proprietor of The Doughbrik, they were also faced with accusations of public sexual misconduct involving a previous member of the Vlog Squad, Dominykas ‘Durte Dom’ Zeglaitis.
Following the emergence of accusations, all of Dobrik’s YouTube channels were demonetized by the platform and he lost several endorsements. But after taking a break from the site, he made a comeback in mid-2021 that brought him back into the limelight briefly before disappearing from view again.
Is David Dobrik still making money?
Due to YouTube removing ad revenue from his videos, there’s been a lot of interest in understanding Dobrik’s current financial situation and sources of income. Here’s the deal: He’s still bringing in money through collaborations as an influencer, selling merchandise, striking deals with Snapchat, and investing in technology startups.
David isn’t the sole YouTube personality who vanished from the internet, then resurfaced with viral popularity years later. In a similar vein, CoryxKenshin, another content creator, was missing for 1.5 years, but reappeared on YouTube in December 2024 following a break to create his own manga series.
