As a huge Assassin’s Creed fan, 2025 was a really exciting year! We finally got the 14th main game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which came out in March and I was so hyped for it!
Last year, Shadows continued to grow with free updates and exciting collaborations with other popular games, in addition to the release of the Claws of Awaji expansion.
Even Assassin’s Creed Mirage got a surprisingly free DLC called Valley of Memory in November. Plus, last summer Netflix announced a live-action Assassin’s Creed TV show, with Roberto Patino and David Wiener – both Emmy-nominated – leading the creative team.
Even though 2025 has passed, fans of the almost 19-year-old Assassin’s Creed franchise can look forward to plenty of new content in 2026, such as game updates, new releases, announcements, and expanded stories across different media.
Assassin’s Creed Game Releases in 2026

For months, people have been talking about a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Leaks and job postings from Ubisoft suggest it will be the next major Assassin’s Creed game released after Shadows.
Earlier this month, a listing for a game called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced appeared on the Pan-European Game Information rating system with a Mature (18+) rating, but it was taken down shortly after.
Developed primarily by Ubisoft Singapore, the team behind Skull and Bones, Resynced aims to completely remove the modern-day storyline from Black Flag and delve deeper into Edward Kenway’s story. It will feature updated gameplay mechanics inspired by recent role-playing Assassin’s Creed games.
Resynced is planned to release in late March, marking Ubisoft’s last surprise game of the year and celebrating the company’s 40th anniversary.
Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe and Other AC Titles
First revealed in 2022, Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe is the next major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal since 2021, with Darby McDevitt as Narrative Director, it promises to be one of the franchise’s most ambitious games yet, according to early reports and leaks.
There’s talk that Hexe won’t be a role-playing game like Shadows and earlier games in the series. Instead, it’s expected to blend the style of older, story-focused Assassin’s Creed games – like Assassin’s Creed III – with RPG elements.
The game takes place during the 16th-century witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire and features a female Assassin as the main character. She has supernatural abilities similar to those associated with witchcraft.
After a lengthy development period, particularly for a game of its type, Hexe is currently slated to release in late 2026—likely October or December—to avoid clashing with the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. However, some reports suggest it might be pushed back to early 2027.
We can expect to hear more about games like Resynced, Hexe, and upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles – including Assassin’s Creed Jade and the multiplayer game Assassin’s Creed Invictus – at events like Ubisoft Forward throughout the year. However, there’s a chance Jade might be canceled or developed into a bigger game that isn’t limited to mobile devices.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Year 2
While Assassin’s Creed Shadows will enter its second year in March 2026, fans of the game’s characters Naoe and Yasuke might find the year lacks significant new content for them.
Despite being initially advertised with a season pass promising two expansions, Shadows will not be getting a second major DLC like Claws of Awaji, according to Associate Game Director Simon Lemay-Comtois.
Instead of large expansions, Shadows will receive regular, smaller updates throughout the year. These free updates will include things like the ability to re-fight previous bosses, and possibly a new story mission where Naoe can earn an outfit inspired by Shao Jun’s from Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China.
Fans might finally get a co-op mode for Shadows later this year. There’s also talk that the game will include short, limited-time missions featuring characters and elements from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Resynced, much like the crossover events in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

This manga tells the story of how the original Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins came to be. It focuses on Alvaro Catarribera, the group’s founder, and shows the early lives of characters who would become Naoe’s parents, Tsuyu and Nagato, as well as a young Hattori Hanzo.
This manga first appeared online in Japan’s Weekly Young Magazine. Now, a physical English edition will be available in mid-June.
Further Revelations About Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed
As if the new book wasn’t enough, it sounds like we’re finally going to get some real news about the AC series on Netflix! They’ve been slowly revealing who’s in the cast and working on the show for a while now, especially throughout late 2025 and into early 2026, so I’m hoping we’ll hear more soon.
So far, the cast for Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed includes:
- Tanzyn Crawford
- Laura Marcus
- Zachary Hart
- Lola Petticrew
- Toby Wallace
We don’t have official information about the show’s characters or where it’s set yet, but there’s speculation it might be partially located in Ancient Rome around 54 C.E., and that the Roman Emperor Nero could appear in it.
Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for its Assassin’s Creed series yet, as they are still choosing actors. However, Ubisoft and Netflix might share some early artwork or details about the story later this year to build anticipation. With the Assassin’s Creed franchise turning 20 in 2027, that could be an ideal time to launch the show – its first full live-action adaptation.
