Andy Cohen didn’t hold back when talking about outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams during CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast. While chatting with Anderson Cooper and B.J. Novak, Cohen criticized Adams, starting to say the mayor’s time in office was “chaotic, horrible…” before being interrupted. Novak jokingly asked if Cohen was about to launch into a long rant like he did about former mayor Bill de Blasio. Cohen continued, saying he was glad Adams had issued pardons and could now “go off into the sunset,” leaving the city to deal with the issues he created.
Cohen also disapproved of Adams’ focus on nightlife and partying as mayor, jokingly saying, “You spent four years going to clubs, and we always saw you there.” However, Cohen did acknowledge Adams’ success in reducing the city’s rat population. He quipped, “He made a dent in the rat problem, but maybe that’s symbolic—there are fewer rats in 2026.”
That was just one memorable moment from New Year’s Eve 2025 involving Andy and Anderson. Here are a few more highlights:
Less rats?
“Fewer,” corrected Novak. Putting that Harvard degree to use.
Stephen Colbert is a bossy bottom
And so is Cooper, if you believe Cohen.

Anderson Cooper does not live the life of a showgirl
Maybe we can leave the Travis Kelce hog talk in 2025.
