With fans eagerly anticipating the next season of Wednesday, star Jenna Ortega has shared what she hopes to see happen in Season 3. In a recent interview, the 23-year-old actress discussed the direction she’d like the show to take after the dramatic events of the last season.
Jenna Ortega wants Wednesday to ‘deal with the darker side of herself’ in Season 3
Jenna Ortega recently told GamesRadar+ that she’d like to see Wednesday Season 3 focus on the dynamic between Wednesday Addams and her mother, Morticia, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.
As a fan, I really hope to see Morticia and Wednesday stop fighting and start working together! Jenna Ortega and I were chatting about how cool it would be to see more stories about women supporting each other, and we definitely saw a hint of that in the last few episodes. I think leaning into that dynamic would be amazing – it’s so refreshing to see strong women teaming up on screen.
Ortega expressed a desire for Wednesday to explore her darker emotions in Season 3, while still maintaining the show’s lighthearted tone. She also joked that she’d like to see more playful, even deadly, interactions between Wednesday and her brother, Pugsley, suggesting Wednesday doesn’t try to harm him often enough.
Jenna Ortega isn’t the only one hoping to see more family connections in Season 3 of Wednesday. Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia Addams, also wants to explore the relationship between Morticia and her own mother, played by Joanna Lumley. Zeta-Jones hinted at a backstory revealed at the end of Season 1 and expressed interest in showing how Morticia learned from past experiences to avoid similar issues with her daughter, Wednesday.
Although Netflix hasn’t announced an exact date, the third season of Wednesday is expected to be released around 2027.
