Interest in using artificial intelligence in film and entertainment is rapidly increasing. Recently, Prime Video implemented new AI tools to generate dubbing for various shows. Additionally, director David Fincher was able to correct a long-standing error in Se7en that had bothered him for years. This growing power of AI for creators is causing some concern among fans. Now, AI company Xicoia has taken things a step further by creating what they claim is the first AI actress.
At the Zurich Film Festival (as reported by Variety), Particle6 studio unveiled its project – Tilly Norwood, which they’re calling the world’s first AI actress. Elina Van der Velden, who owns Particle6, shared her ambition for Tilly, stating she hopes she will become as famous as Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman.
Elina Van der Velden explained that their goal is for Tilly to achieve the same level of success as actresses like Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman.
Tilly Norwood marks the beginning of several exciting projects Particle6 plans to reveal in the near future. This AI actress also has her own social media accounts, and she recently shared news of landing her debut role in a humorous video on Instagram. You can find the advertisement below.
I can’t believe it – my very first acting role is here! I’m playing a character in AI Commissioner, a funny sketch that looks at how TV might be made in the future. It’s produced by the amazing folks at Particle6 Productions […]. Even though I was created using AI, I’m genuinely feeling a lot of excitement right now! I can’t wait to see what happens next! – says Tilly Norwood.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Elina Van der Velden stated that AI actors aren’t on the horizon – they’re already present. The producer notes that Tilly Norwood is gaining significant interest from agencies and suggests that audiences prioritize a compelling narrative over whether the performers are real people.
You know, as a fan, I think people really just want a good story – they don’t care if the actor is human or not! And it’s amazing, but Tilly is already getting noticed by talent agencies and other fans like me. It’s so cool to see all the interest!
Recently, Hollywood actors voiced their concerns about the increasing use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking. The Particle6 studio project faced criticism from performers such as Melissa Barrera and Lukas Gage. According to Deadline, they announced their intention to avoid agencies that collaborate with companies developing AI actors.
