Next year will be the 25th anniversary of the Halo franchise, and a new game has been anticipated for a while. Halo Studios recently promised a major reveal at the Halo World Championships, and now we have the date for that announcement.
The Halo World Championships take place in Seattle, Washington from October 24th to 26th. The event schedule is now available, and Halo Studios will be making an announcement on Friday, October 24th at 1:00 PM Pacific Time / 4:00 PM Eastern Time. According to Halo Studios community director Brian Jarrard, the announcement will be an update about one of their current projects.

Although nothing is official, rumors are circulating about a complete remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Reports suggest Virtuos, the studio that remastered The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, is collaborating with Halo Studios on the project. While Halo: Combat Evolved was previously updated in 2011 with ‘Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary,’ this new remake is said to be built using a combination of Unreal Engine 5 and the technology from Halo Reach. There’s also speculation that this could be the first Halo game ever released on PlayStation consoles.
Steve Downes, the actor who voices Master Chief, has shared some subtle clues about an upcoming announcement, though he hasn’t revealed any specifics. Microsoft has already indicated that several Halo games and projects are in the works. Last year at the Halo World Championships, they showed a trailer called ‘A New Dawn’ which confirmed that future Halo projects, including one called Project Foundry, will be built using the Unreal Engine.
Beyond the video games, the Halo TV show recently launched on Netflix and quickly became a hit, ranking among the platform’s most-watched programs.
