Watch: Mario Galaxy Movie Promo Reveals Rosalina’s 4 New Powers

A recent trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gave fans a closer look at Rosalina’s powers, including one unexpected ability. The trailer revealed that Rosalina (played by Brie Larson) will play a significant role in the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, joining Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach on a new adventure that takes them across the cosmos to battle Bowser Jr. In the film, Rosalina is portrayed as an intergalactic princess who governs the Comet Observatory and is a mother figure to the Lumas – the star-like creatures well-known to Mario fans.

Just before The Super Mario Bros. Movie comes out on April 1st, Nintendo shared a short, 10-second trailer highlighting Rosalina and her key abilities as they’ll appear in the film.

The official movie trailer suggests Rosalina will have a much bigger role in the film’s action compared to her role in the game.

The short preview revealed that this version of Rosalina will have several new abilities, which is fitting given her role as the “Watcher of the Stars.”

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, The Super Mario Bros. Movie follows Mario and Luigi as they try to stop Bowser Jr. from carrying out a dangerous plan to revive his father and upset the balance of the universe.

The upcoming Nintendo sequel will feature over 40 playable characters and a fantastic voice cast! Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Jack Black are all returning, and they’ll be joined by new additions Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.

Every Main Power of Rosalina in Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s New Promo

Platforming

A new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie shows Rosalina using a unique ability: she can jump onto Bullet Bills to ride them and travel around, adding a new way for her to get around in the film.

Although she didn’t often use this skill in Super Smash Bros., the movie shows her doing platforming similar to Mario and Peach, which highlights just how important her character is to the overall story.

Rosalina recently joined the platforming action in the new Super Mario Wonder expansion. This suggests we might see this feature appear in future Mario games as well.

Gravitational Pull

Rosalina will return with her iconic gravity-based attack, seen in Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in the next game.

This power creates a gravitational pull, attracting objects and changing their course. As demonstrated in the promotional material, it can also be used to stop enemies who rely on ranged attacks.

Launch Star

In the game Super Smash Bros., Rosalina has a move called Launch Star. A recent trailer for The Super Galaxy Movie showed that Brie Larson’s character will also use this ability as a special skill in the new film.

Rosalina’s Launch Star creates a colorful star that sends her and Luma flying across large distances. It’s essential for traveling between planets and galaxies.

Star Wand

I’m a huge fan of Rosalina, and I’ve always been fascinated by how she gets her power! It all centers around her Star Wand – it’s not just a pretty accessory, but a source of real cosmic magic. The coolest part is how it connects her to the Lumas; she can call on them whenever she needs help, and it’s all thanks to that wand!

The new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie showed the Star Wand has incredible powers. It can destroy a huge, spider-like robot, create shields, move objects with its mind, and even block attacks from enemies.

The Star Wand can secretly summon the Grand Star, a tremendously powerful weapon. This weapon has the ability to either completely reset the universe or revitalize the Comet Observatory with a surge of energy.
