Was to be a hit for years, disappears without a trace. Anthem community says goodbye with slogan: „Strong alone, stronger together”

BioWare launched Anthem nearly seven years ago, and while it didn’t live up to expectations for many, it wasn’t a complete failure. Despite a rocky start, the game still attracted a loyal fanbase who enjoyed aspects like the ability to fly around the game world.

Despite numerous attempts to fix it, BioWare wasn’t able to revive Anthem, and its servers are officially going offline today. Some players reported issues launching the game last week, suggesting Electronic Arts may have started the shutdown process early.

Farewell to Anthem

Despite the issues, players who still had access gathered one last time yesterday to finish missions and say goodbye to the game. The Anthem community on Reddit is full of people sharing their final moments and memories. Many are also remembering the game’s motto: “Strong alone, stronger together.”

Honestly, a lot of us are hoping the community can keep Anthem alive with private servers. It’s a shame Electronic Arts didn’t give us an offline mode, which games like Marvel’s Avengers and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League did include. It would have been awesome to keep playing even if the official servers went down.

Whether or not you’re disappointed by the end of Anthem, it’s a shame to see a game that many enjoyed disappear, particularly because players had to pay to play it. That’s why the Stop Killing Games campaign, which tries to prevent this from happening to other games, is a welcome effort.
