As a seasoned Warzone gamer with countless hours spent navigating the battlefields of Verdansk and Rebirth Island, I must say that this latest move by Raven Software to disable live pings in Ranked Mode is both a relief and a necessary step towards fair play.
In ranked mode, players of Warzone are now unable to obtain free wall hacks as a result of Raven Software disabling one of the game’s ping features.
For the initial release of Call of Duty’s Warzone in 2020, the Ping System was introduced as a new feature. This system allows players to signal their teammates about nearby enemies by simply pressing a button, providing both visual and auditory notifications.
In Black Ops 6 and Warzone, several kinds of pings exist, yet among the most practical could be the live ping. This particular ping places a red marker on an adversary, and it continues to track them for some time after they’ve been identified.
In multiplayer and Warzone, the real-time ping function remains accessible, but it’s been removed from Ranked Play: Battle Royale due to its ability to provide players an unfair advantage through wall vision.
Live pings disabled in Warzone Ranked
In the game Call of Duty, live pings serve as an effective resource since they make visible to your teammates the player you’ve marked. These live pings trail the enemy for a short while, allowing everyone on your team to track their movement and direction.
The live ping system can give away enemies’ locations too easily, leading to situations where players are killed despite being behind cover.
The goal behind this adjustment is to enhance Ranked Play mode, as it will no longer feature live pings that track players during battles, a situation that sometimes results in unjust deaths caused by enemies hiding behind walls.

From now on, rather than seeing an active indicator (live ping) when locating an opponent, players will experience the regular danger ping instead. This type of ping simply puts a stationary red marker at the location where it was triggered, and you can place it by double-tapping the ping key regardless if there’s someone present or not in the chosen spot.
The response within the Warzone community towards the recent change has been overwhelmingly favorable. Notable content creators such as Symfuhny have labeled it as “exciting,” while TrueGameData has taken it a step further, suggesting that unnecessary elements which can create the illusion of walls on killcams should be eliminated from the game to combat misinformation more effectively.
As a passionate fan, I’ve often found myself pondering about ways to enhance the gameplay experience by addressing misinformation surrounding killcams. It seems like everyone is quick to blame walls when there are numerous methods to gauge a player’s general location without relying on walls.

Although the adjustments made for Warzone Ranked seem beneficial, the game continues to encounter issues with real cheaters who employ advanced wall hacking techniques.
