Warframe’s The Vallis Undermind update launches October 15 for all platforms, Nintendo Switch 2 gameplay shown

Digital Extremes revealed that the next big update for Warframe, called The Vallis Undermind, will be available on all platforms starting October 15th.

So, the big news from the latest Devstream? Warframe is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch 2! They actually showed gameplay of it running natively on the new console – you can check it out around the 28:20 mark in the stream. It’s awesome because Digital Extremes finally got their hands on devkits. And get this – with the Vallis Undermind update, we’re getting Warframe number 62, a whole new area to explore with cool missions, and they’re even reworking some gameplay stuff. It’s going to be huge!

You can now play Warframe on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and iOS. An Android version is also planned and will be available through a closed beta test this fall.

Digital Extremes revealed the upcoming update for Warframe, called The Vallis Undermind, during a live stream today. It will be available on all platforms starting Wednesday, October 15th. This free update includes a new introductory Quest called “The Teacher” and lots of fresh content to explore, including Nokko, a new Warframe themed around mushrooms. Players can discover a new area called The Deepmines, complete with new missions and lore, as well as a significant update to the Oberon Warframe. There’s also a wide range of customization options, including new Deluxe Skins for Wukong and Lavos, and items from TennoGen. As a bonus, players who log in between October 15th and 21st will receive the Oberon Warframe for free.

Highlights from the October Warframe Devstream include:

Become a fun guy with the 62nd Warframe, Nokko:

  • People in Fortuna often see Nokko as a younger brother figure to Yareli, noting his love of mushrooms and energetic spirit.

  • In battle, you can cause chaos by throwing mushrooms that release poison, growing mushrooms that boost allies’ defenses, briefly turning into a small, healing mushroom that puts enemies to sleep, or launching a bouncing, explosive mushroom projectile.

  • As a Warframe player, I’m excited to learn I can get Nokko in a couple of ways! I can grind for the Blueprints and resources needed through Nightcap bounties – which sounds like a fun challenge – or, if I’m impatient like some of us, I can just use Platinum to unlock Nokko right away from the Marketplace. It’s great to have options!

Explore the hidden depths of Fortuna, a new area called The Deepmines, and take on bounties from a new contact, Nightcap, in this fungal-filled environment.

  • Find Nightcap in Fortuna’s central hub and see the glowing, mushroom-covered Solaran. It’s ready for daring explorers to take on new missions against the Corpus scientists operating deep below the surface.

  • Finish quests and find secret mushrooms to fill Nightcap’s Foraging Journal and get Fergolyte, a special substance that a mysterious mushroom called “The Prince” craves.

  • Give ‘The Prince’ nourishment to help its story grow, and then experience the resulting Visions. By playing through these Visions, you’ll uncover the history of The Deepmines, Nightcap, and Nokko.

  • The Deepmines and Nightcap can be unlocked after completing The New War Quest

“After the positive community reaction and excitement at this year’s TennoCon to what was then called simply the Unannounced Fall 2025 Update, we’ve been really looking forward to spilling the beans around The Vallis Undermind,” said Megan Everett, Community Director. “The introduction of The Teacher new player Quest furthers our mission to make Warframemore accessible for new players. It took us 12 years to finally teach Modding, but it was better late than never! We aim to continue investing in making that experience more immersive and educational for any potential Tenno who wants to join the fold.”
