The beginning of Virgin River season 7 reveals what happened to Charmaine after the dramatic ending of season 6.
The sixth season of Virgin River ended with a joyful moment for Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) – they got married, not once, but twice! However, typical of this small town in California, the happiness was quickly followed by lingering questions. Most notably, fans were left wondering why Jack’s former partner, Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), didn’t attend the wedding.
The sixth season of Virgin River ended with a shocking scene: Jack discovered Charmaine’s house completely torn apart, leaving viewers wondering about the safety of her and her twins. Netflix has now released the first five minutes of season 7, confirming that Charmaine and the children are currently safe, but their safety is quickly threatened. A death occurred in the house on that fateful day, and the circumstances suggest Charmaine may be responsible.
In a conversation, detective Mike (Marco Grazzini) tells Jack that Calvin (played by David Cubitt and Josh Blacker), a major drug dealer and the father of Charmaine’s children, was found shot dead in his home. Mike suspects Charmaine might be involved, which could explain why she fled the scene. You can watch the scene on Netflix’s Tudum.
Considering Calvin’s past behavior, it’s possible Charmaine was protecting herself. However, the show will reveal the full story as the season unfolds. The central mystery of the new season will be figuring out what happened to Cal, according to show creator Patrick Sean Smith.
After ending season 6 with the mystery of Charmaine missing the wedding and hinting at danger throughout the season, the show creators debated what Jack actually saw that day. Was it something, or someone? In the upcoming episodes, Jack and his sister Brie, a skilled lawyer, will work together to locate Charmaine and uncover the truth.
Later in the season 7 preview, Mel tells Jack they might be expecting another baby, following the arrival of a worried young mother at the end of season 6. Despite ongoing questions about Charmaine’s plans for adoption, the couple enjoys being newlyweds with a romantic hot-air balloon ride over the beautiful Virgin River area.
Season 7 of Virgin River promises to be full of drama, with a new mystery and major choices for the characters ahead.
Virgin River season 7 premieres on Netflix on March 12.
