Viral Texas judge who berated IT worker demands critics appear in court

A judge in Texas, recently known for a harsh scolding of an IT professional, is now taking further action. He’s summoned one of his critics to court after they publicly criticized his conduct.

A video showing Judge Nathan Milliron, of Harris County’s 215th District Court, sharply scolding a courthouse technician attempting to resolve a small sound problem has drawn criticism.

So, I was watching this clip, and this tech guy tried to play it cool, saying it was a ‘false alarm.’ But honestly, it really ticked off Judge Milliron! He totally snapped, told the tech not to joke around, and straight-up ordered him to leave the courtroom. It was pretty intense!

Following this, Milliron was caught saying, “Jesus Christ. Sick and tired of this bullsh*t.”

The video went viral, gaining millions of views and sparking debate about the judge’s manner and conduct. The controversy even led to a lawyer being summoned to court because of their public statements about it.

Judge orders attorney appear in court after saying IT worker deserves an apology

After the video went viral, lawyer James Stafford sent Milliron an email, advising him to apologize and expressing concern about how he behaved in court.

Stafford expressed his hope that an apology had been given for the way the individual was treated. He also suggested the behavior might have been due to a bad day, and wasn’t representative of the person’s usual demeanor as a judge, before wishing them a good weekend.

Rather than apologize, Milliron claimed the lawyer had inappropriately contacted the judge directly – a practice known as “ex parte” communication – and demanded the lawyer come to court to address the issue.

A recently discovered email reveals that the Texas judge who gained notoriety for scolding Nathan Milliron, an IT worker, misused his power. He tried to compel a lawyer to come to his court simply because that lawyer had asked him to apologize to Milliron.

Milliron directed the recipient to appear in court, stating, ‘You are ordered to appear as an officer of this Court,’ and scheduled a hearing for April.

Stafford has declined to comply, stating he doesn’t currently have any cases being handled by that judge and that his email was an exercise of his right to free speech, not a legal wrongdoing.

The lawyer explained they weren’t making a private, one-sided argument, but simply sharing their opinion as a citizen about what they felt was inappropriate behavior in the courtroom.

Honestly, this whole situation just keeps getting worse! More videos have come out of Judge Milliron arguing with lawyers in the courtroom, and it’s pretty shocking. There’s even one clip where he actually threatened to have a lawyer arrested and put in handcuffs! It’s really concerning to see.

Even though people are upset, there likely won’t be any quick repercussions. Since Milliron was elected, court officials in the area have limited power to directly punish him.

Judge Rabeea Collier, the administrative judge for the civil court, addressed concerns about a recently circulated video showing a member of their staff. She stated that all individuals working within the judicial system are expected to maintain professionalism, respect, and impartiality to meet public expectations.

I can’t discuss specific details while things are being reviewed, but I want to assure everyone that we’re taking these concerns very seriously. The Civil Trial Division is dedicated to creating a respectful work environment and protecting the fairness of our legal system.

The story is still developing online, and videos are going viral, leading to increased attention on how courtroom proceedings are conducted and how judges respond to feedback.
