The famous zoo monkey, Punch, showed his protective side when he intervened to defend his mate from another monkey.
A monkey named Punch has become an internet sensation after videos emerged of him seeking comfort with a stuffed animal, reportedly after being rejected by his mother.
The Japanese macaque initially struggled to adjust to living with other monkeys, but he’s now thriving, having made a close companion who protects him and even found a romantic partner.
I just saw the most amazing video! Apparently, Moe, Punch’s girlfriend, was being bothered by another monkey, but Punch totally came to her rescue. It was so sweet to see him step in and protect her!

The video, posted on March 21st, features Punch and Moe playing together. It shows Punch going down a cliff and then waiting for his partner to come down as well.
Suddenly, another monkey attacked her, leaping onto her back and starting a fight.

Punch faced a tough choice: return and fight to win her back, or move on with his life and settle for the companionship of an Ikea stuffed animal.
Rather than retreat, Punch climbed upwards and, even though he was smaller than his opponent, managed to push the other creature off the cliff before Moe rushed over to hug him.
Someone posted a video on X showing the latest antics of a popular online character named Punch. The person who shared the video noted that Punch usually needs rescuing by another character, Moe-chan, but in this instance, Punch is the one doing the saving.
It’s so great to see how much Punch has changed since he came to the Ichikawa City Zoo! He used to be a bit shy, but now he’s really getting comfortable hanging out with the other monkeys. I’m excited to see what he does next – who knows where his adventures will take him!
