Performative Letterboxd keychain goes viral

A keychain created by 9teensstudio is gaining popularity online. It’s designed to look like a miniature Letterboxd user profile, and the creator recently shared it, attracting attention.

Photos on X show a keychain with sections for “Profile,” “Diary,” “Lists,” and “Watchlist.” It also has four spaces at the bottom to hold printed photos, letting users customize it with images from their favorite movies.

So, the creator shared that these things are really cool because you can actually swap out the little posters inside – the frame opens up! I saw a post about them and it blew up, getting tons of views. Apparently a lot of film fans loved the idea, and people were joking it’s the perfect thing for anyone who basically lives online tracking all the movies they’ve watched – which, let’s be real, is me!

Honestly, I don’t get why people are calling it ‘performative.’ If something makes someone happy and they want to share it, let them! It’s not like enjoying things or showing your enthusiasm hurts anyone, right? Thanks for understanding! 😊

Currently, you can only order the item by filling out a Google Form, not through a regular online shop. 9teensstudio mentioned they aren’t selling on Shopee right now because the fees are too expensive.

Photos of the pre-order page reveal the Letterboxd-style frame keychain costs PHP 420 (about $6.92), and you can add photos to it for an extra PHP 2 each. Pre-orders are open until April 6th, and items are expected to ship around the second week of April 2026. Once you place your order, it can’t be canceled.
