Bryan Wade, formerly a moderator on Reddit known as Stale2000, is seeking information from the US government regarding their recent meetings with leaders from Twitch, Reddit, and other social media companies.
In January, Stale2000 became popular online after being removed as a moderator from the LivestreamFails subreddit. He had been involved in promoting a reality show called Million Dollar Fan, which aimed to feature several well-known streamers like ExtraEmily and Esfand.
After being removed from his position, Stale2000 argued that Reddit moderators should be recognized as having significant power and influence, similar to celebrities or influencers – not necessarily because they deserve respect, but simply because of the power they wield.
He also suggested that moderators should have “qualifications” to wield the moderation powers.
Stale2000 wants US government to release Twitch & Reddit files
A former moderator for the now-defunct LSF is urging Congress to make public the documents obtained from Discord, Reddit, Steam, and Twitch during their recent appearance before the House Oversight Committee regarding online radicalization.
Wade has been calling for the past three days, contacting various officials regarding the files in question. He explained that while the interviews weren’t held publicly, they were recorded and are expected to be made available eventually, suggesting someone may have simply overlooked the release. “I think they just forgot,” he stated during one of his calls.
“We’ll see how this goes. I think I might actually be able to get these things released.”
I’m still waiting for those files, and it’s frustrating! Wade’s been really on top of it though, calling them every day for the past three days to try and get them released.
During his third attempt to follow up, he was informed that the committee had received his request and was currently processing it. The former official expressed relief, saying, “It seems like someone is handling this competently.”
Day 3, they are aware!

In November, leaders from Discord, Reddit, Steam, and Twitch appeared before Congress to address concerns about how their platforms might contribute to online radicalization.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy isn’t concerned about potential government inquiries, believing they likely have limited knowledge of the platform and would primarily be looking for basic information.
