Viral “Donald Trump” buffalo spared from sacrifice at the very last minute

A buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” because of its fluffy, blonde mane has been saved by the Bangladesh government and is now living at a zoo.

A unique albino buffalo from Bangladesh became famous in May when people noticed his blonde fur resembled the hairstyle of a U.S. president, earning him a nickname inspired by the politician.

Not surprisingly, his unusual appearance drew a lot of interest from both the local news and visitors, who came to the farm in Narayanganj, near Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Even though the buffalo had recently become famous, it was still predicted to be sacrificed as part of Eid al-Adha, a Muslim holiday where many animals are traditionally slaughtered and distributed to family and those in need.

In an unexpected turn of events, much like a scene from a movie, the local government has intervened to save the buffalo from being slaughtered.

Bangladeshi Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stepped in to save a buffalo from slaughter, Reuters reports. The original buyer received a refund, and the unique golden-colored buffalo is now living at the national zoo in Dhaka.

A ministry official stated that the buffalo wasn’t sacrificed as planned because of safety worries and a surprisingly large amount of public attention.

White buffalo are very rare in Bangladesh, as most buffalo there have dark skin and fur. This particular buffalo’s pale color, combined with his unusual blonde mane, makes him especially noticeable among other buffalo.

It appears the buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” will now be able to live out his life peacefully and enjoy his freedom.

While a lookalike of the American president has recently gained attention online, the White House also honored Harambe, calling him a “true patriot” on the tenth anniversary of his death.
