The person who cares for Ganymede, the cat who became famous online for being blind, has addressed the memes people have been creating about him.
Animals, particularly cats, have become a huge part of internet culture, often starring in popular memes due to their funny expressions and behaviors. Many cats have become internet sensations over the years.
So, there’s this cat named Ganymede, and he’s totally blind, which is amazing in itself. But get this – he became a meme back in 2026! It really took off when MatPat, the YouTuber, started sharing him around, and suddenly everyone online knew Ganymede. It’s a pretty cool story, honestly.
This cat has become famous online several times, and one particularly memorable moment is when he peered through a water bottle, creating the illusion that his face was pixelated or low-resolution.
Ganymede cat owner responds to online memes
The cat’s owner, who wishes to stay anonymous, responded to some of the popular memes about their pet on X (formerly Twitter) after their sister brought them to their attention.
Someone posted on the ganymedeshouse account, saying their sister noticed their cat’s photos were becoming popular memes on TikTok, so they were sharing the original pictures they took.
The social media accounts for the famous 15-year-old cat share unique photos and new updates about his life.
My sister told me my cat’s photos are going viral on TikTok, so I’m sharing the originals here. I took them myself!

Gany’s owner also asked for the cat to only be used in “wholesome memes” and nothing disrespectful.
They responded to a post, asking that their cat’s photo not be used in silly or inappropriate content, but only in positive and heartwarming memes. They jokingly added ‘LMAO’ to emphasize their point.
Please don’t use my cat photo for dumb shit like this LMAO. Only for wholesome memea

Gany isn’t the only animal capturing the internet’s attention right now; people are still fascinated by Punch, a monkey in Japan.
Fans of Punch, the Japanese macaque at Ichikawa City Zoo, can now donate to support his care. Plus, he’s recently paired up with a partner!
