Okay, folks, after ten long years, it’s happening! Thanks to the recent boost from streaming, Vin Diesel is finally moving forward with a sequel to his beloved action fantasy film. And he just dropped the first news on social media – including what we’ll be calling it! It’s a great moment for fans who’ve been waiting, and I’m definitely intrigued to see what he’s been cooking up.
Directed by Breck Eisner and written by Cory Goodman, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless, the 2015 film blends action, fantasy, and Vin Diesel. Diesel stars as Kaulder, an immortal witch hunter who, after 800 years of living with a curse, continues to fight witches in the present day. The film also features Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Julie Engelbrecht.
I was surprised to hear they’re making a sequel to The Last Witch Hunter! When the first movie came out, critics really didn’t like it – it only scored 18% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it didn’t do great in theaters, bringing in around $147 million worldwide. Apparently, though, a lot of people have been rediscovering it on streaming lately. Vin Diesel has said this project is really personal to him – it’s inspired by his Dungeons & Dragons games – and now The Last Witch Hunter 2 is officially happening, with Diesel sharing some early info about it.
‘The Last Witch Hunter 2’ Finds Kaulder Paying a Debt

Lionsgate Films
Vin Diesel recently posted a photo on Instagram showing the cover and first page of the script for the sequel to The Last Witch Hunter. The new movie will be titled Kaulder the Immortal – The Lion’s Oath. He also shared a quote – “Some debts take centuries to pay” – which likely hints at the story’s plot.
The movie begins with Vin Diesel’s character, Kaulder, talking to a younger version of the priest Dolan, played by Michael Caine. Caine is returning from retirement to reprise his role as the 36th Dolan, who helps Kaulder monitor witches. The story then jumps ahead 80 years, leading many to believe the film will feature a flashback sequence where a de-aged Michael Caine appears.
Vin Diesel has long hoped to make another The Last Witch Hunter movie, and now it’s happening! Adam Fogelsen, head of Lionsgate’s film division, recently announced a sequel is officially in development, following the original film’s unexpected success.
Since its release in theaters, ‘The Last Witch Hunter’ has become a popular film with fans around the world, continuing to find new audiences and repeat viewings over the last ten years. This ongoing enthusiasm showed us that people want to see more stories set in that universe. I’ve worked with Vin Diesel many times, and he’s a powerful talent. I’m excited to be working with him again as he reprises his famous role, and we’re now able to create a bigger and more impressive sequel thanks to advancements in filmmaking technology.
