Fans Have Been Waiting 12 Years for Riddick’s Return…
Riddick, a character first appearing in the popular sci-fi horror film *Pitch Black* over twenty years ago, has become one of Vin Diesel’s signature roles and a long-running franchise. The original movie focused on a spaceship crew stranded on a dangerous planet with creatures that come out at night. The sequel, *The Chronicles of Riddick* (2004), broadened the story, pitting Riddick against the Necromongers, a powerful empire determined to destroy humankind.
The sequel to the previous film didn’t do well with critics or at the box office. The last time audiences saw Riddick was in the 2013 film *Riddick*, which went back to the series’ original style—a story of Riddick alone on a dangerous planet, trying to escape deadly mercenaries (though it wasn’t a complete success). Vin Diesel has hinted at another movie for years, and the director, David Twohy, has mentioned that it will delve into Riddick’s unknown history.
For years, our dedicated fans have been asking for another Riddick film, and we’re thrilled to announce that it’s finally happening with ‘Riddick: Furya’! I’ve been working with Vin Diesel and One Race for over 20 years, and together we’ve brought the Riddick universe to life through three films, two video games, an anime series, and online motion comics. This new movie will take audiences back to Riddick’s home planet, revealing the origins of this iconic character.
Now that the *Fast and Furious* series is nearing its conclusion with a planned eleventh film—though some reports suggest *Fast X* from 2023 might have actually been the end—Vin Diesel is focusing on starting several new action movie franchises. In addition to another *Riddick* film, he’s set to reprise his role in *The Last Witch Hunter 2*, and is also considering a fourth *xXx* installment.
