His internal struggle with his Saiyan heritage – and whether he’s lived up to his potential as a leader – is a compelling theme, especially as he interacts with the Saiyans from Universe 6.

The connection between Vegeta and Cabba is genuinely heartwarming, showing how much Vegeta has grown. He’s now willing to mentor others instead of simply looking down on them. This positive change extends to his family life, making him more present and supportive – we see this in moments like family vacations and his devotion to Bulma during her pregnancy. In contrast, Goku and Gohan struggle with their roles as husbands throughout Dragon Ball Super.

In the end, Vegeta sets aside his ego and travels to Planet Yardrat for rigorous training, though he still struggles against Moro. He masters spirit control, unlocking abilities like cloning, growing to immense size, and Instant Transmission. However, his most powerful new skill is Forced Spirit Fission. This technique proves crucial in the final battle with Moro, and the heroes couldn’t have won without it. While Goku delivers the finishing strike, Forced Spirit Fission provides the power needed for success, making it perhaps the most important new technique introduced in Dragon Ball Super. It’s significant that Vegeta, not Goku, learned this ability during his time on Yardrat.

The Final Fight Against Black Frieza Is Designed For Vegeta To Win

Following the death of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Super is currently on an indefinite break. While the future of the series is uncertain, one thing seems likely: Frieza will return. Though his reappearances have become predictable, it makes sense given how many of Dragon Ball‘s characters have strong, personal reasons to dislike him. Frieza has a long and tragic history with Vegeta, not only killing him once, but also destroying Planet Vegeta and wiping out Vegeta’s entire royal family. Many fans were frustrated that Vegeta didn’t get the chance to defeat Frieza himself during their fight, especially since Goku ultimately won. However, some believe this could be a setup to make a future victory over Black Frieza even more impactful for Vegeta.

For decades, Vegeta has been working towards this moment, and now he’s finally within reach of achieving it. His recent power-ups and transformations seem perfectly suited to defeat Frieza and finally put that rivalry to rest. There are several ways this could happen, even a heroic sacrifice from Vegeta himself. Such a sacrifice would powerfully conclude Vegeta’s character arc and establish him as the central hero of Dragon Ball Super. The series could even subvert the typical Dragon Ball ending by having Vegeta be the one to make the ultimate sacrifice, rather than Goku. It would be a fitting and well-deserved end to Vegeta’s story.
