As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for reality TV, I’ve seen my fair share of drama unfold both on and off-screen. The news of James Kennedy‘s arrest for misdemeanor domestic violence is yet another reminder that fame doesn’t always equate to virtue.
Television personality James Kennedy, a cast member of “Vanderpump Rules,” found himself in legal trouble on Tuesday night in Burbank, California. He was taken into custody for an allegation of domestic violence, a misdemeanor charge. Known for his fiery temperament and undeniable charm, Kennedy has been under scrutiny for this incident.
On the evening of December 10, 2024, Burbank authorities were summoned to a local home due to a reported dispute between a man and a woman. Subsequent investigations revealed that this was indeed a domestic matter, resulting in the apprehension of Mr. James Kennedy Georgiou.
Mr. Georgiou and Kennedy were both taken into custody for alleged misdemeanor domestic violence incidents. They have since been released on bail, but the official charges are still under review by the Burbank City Attorney’s office.” (TMZ first reported the news of Kennedy’s arrest.)
Kennedy and his partner Ally Lewber, who isn’t mentioned by name, were guests at a gathering held at Kathy Hilton’s residence from the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” series on the same evening.
Kennedy initially appeared as a guest and recurring character in seasons 2 and 3 of “Vanderpump Rules” before becoming a full cast member starting from season 4. He started working at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR as a busboy and has since become a well-known DJ. Throughout the show, Kennedy was recognized for his extreme behavior, particularly with alcohol consumption, and he attempted to adopt a “California sober” lifestyle, which involved abstaining from drinking and drug use but continued smoking marijuana as an alternative.
On Thursday, in her Instagram Stories, Doute posted a screenshot of TMZ, and wrote “FINALLY.”
Kennedy is no longer working for Bravo, that much is clear. In fact, there was a significant overhaul on “Vanderpump Rules” last month, as Bravo announced that the entire cast would be replaced and the reality show would undergo a reboot during Season 12. The show saw record ratings with Season 10 following the controversial cheating scandal known as “Scandoval,” but it struggled to maintain that momentum in Season 11.
Filming for Season 12 of the brand new series kicks off next year. At a future time, we’ll unveil the updated ensemble, comprising employees from Vanderpump’s eateries.
