Popular Twitch streamer Valkyrae is considering a return to YouTube, admitting she finds the Twitch platform unpleasant to use right now.
Rachell Marie Hofstetter, widely known as Valkyrae, is a hugely popular streamer with millions of fans on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
So, on October 26th, I was watching one of the 100 Thieves owners stream. They were playing Among Us and Digimon, but before jumping in, they talked about all the drama going on with the platform that month. It was pretty interesting to hear their take on everything.
October was a really tough month for the community. It started with the awful news about Emiru being attacked at TwitchCon, and then there were serious accusations leveled against Mizkif. To top it off, a really disturbing old clip came out, leading to Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer both getting temporarily banned. It just felt like one bad thing after another.
Valkyrae says the recent events have made her reconsider if she wants to continue streaming on Twitch.
Valkyrae considers quitting Twitch for YouTube
So, I was chatting with QTCinderella recently, and we had a really long talk about some things other streamers have been saying. It’s been on my mind, and we just needed to unpack it all.
She described the past week as chaotic and overwhelming, admitting it’s left her feeling uncomfortable with the idea of streaming. She expressed that her profession feels unpleasant to her right now.
I’m seriously considering stopping my Twitch streams and focusing solely on YouTube. Honestly, Twitch just feels unpleasant to me now. Being connected to it, and especially dealing with some of the people there, is really getting to me. I don’t see things improving anytime soon.

So, during the stream, Hofstetter said she’s not giving up streaming completely, even with everything going on. She’s got a team to think about, you know? But she did hint that she might consider going back to YouTube at some point, so it’s not totally off the table.
I’ve never seriously thought about disconnecting from the internet before, but I can’t now. I have a responsibility to my employees.
Valk later explained that Emiru had warned her beforehand that she planned to publicly share her accusations against Mizkif.
She described the situation as a complete disaster, saying it was incredibly frustrating and disheartening. She expressed sympathy for Emiru and admitted she was losing enthusiasm for streaming, finding the overall environment embarrassing and making her question continuing her own channel.
She also mentioned stalkers as a major concern. “There are just so many unsettling and strange people on this platform, including stalkers. People underestimate how widespread stalking actually is.”
Valkyrae says the problem with her stalker has been escalating, and it seems like most streamers she knows have experienced similar harassment, with each having at least one stalker.
It’s still uncertain what the future holds for her on Twitch, or if she’ll return to YouTube permanently. However, it’s obvious that many creators are becoming frustrated with Twitch, especially following the events of October.
