Popular Twitch streamer Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter has addressed recent rumors about her possible retirement from streaming, saying she doesn’t know where the speculation started.
More and more people are turning streaming and content creation into full-time jobs, and there are lots of resources available to help them get started. But even with all those tools, only a small number achieve real success on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
Valkyrae has been a leading figure in online streaming for years, successfully transitioning between platforms like Twitch and YouTube and maintaining her popularity on both.
Recently, rumors have been circulating on social media suggesting she might be retiring. These claims often include a clip from a past livestream where she playfully mentioned wanting to spend more time away from streaming and enjoy life outside of it.
Valkyrae clears up Twitch retirement claims
In a post on X from March 18th, 100 Thieves co-owner jokingly responded to a viral post with 23,000 likes, clarifying, “I’m not retiring! I’m still here, everyone! I’m alive!”
“I’m very lucky and grateful to do what I do… I’m happy doing it and much more.”
I’m so confused why this post got so much attention! Just to be clear, I’m not retiring – I’m still working and enjoying it! I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do what I love, and I’m really happy with how things are going. 😊

Rae mentioned the popular video came from a livestream she did in late 2025 and was surprised it was resurfacing now.
She commented to a fan that the clip wasn’t terrible, but it was pretty old – six months old, to be exact – and she wasn’t sure why it had been saved for so long.
This one’s not tooooo bad but it is a 6 month old clip lol idk why he saved it for so long 😅

It’s unusual for streamers to completely stop creating content. While some may scale back their activity or see fewer viewers, most don’t fully abandon Twitch.
Valkyrae has said she didn’t enjoy streaming on Twitch, describing it as unpleasant, and she thought about going back to YouTube.
She said in October that she felt uncomfortable and disgusted by the situation, and worried things wouldn’t improve. Being connected to it and seen by others involved made her feel even worse.
