Valheim’s Call to Arms patch notes are here. Combat improvements, trinkets, and more

A new update, called “Call to Arms,” has been released for the widely played survival crafting game Valheim today. This update, version 0.221.4, aims to enhance combat for players and is a precursor to the upcoming final biome, The Deep North, which is projected to launch in 2026. Although the exact release date for Valheim’s full version 1.0 isn’t known yet, it seems it might not be too far off.

Valheim: Call to Arms patch notes, combat improvements, and new weapons

The developers recently released an update for the game Valheim, which was announced on Steam and their official website. This update includes various opportunities for self-improvement within the game, such as using wooden weapons to practice with friends or building structures to enhance your combat skills. Detailed patch notes are available for those who wish to understand all the changes in depth. Additionally, a humorous training montage video about the changes can be found on YouTube.

A notable modification is the introduction of charms or battle items. As described by the developers, these items are a fresh type of acquisition that can be found and utilized during combat. They offer an advantage, such as granting adrenaline which in turn unlocks temporary abilities. Adrenaline is a new feature acquired through various means during battles. Once your adrenaline meter is filled, the specific charm you have equipped determines the temporary perk activated. With 13 charms available in the game, there’s an abundance of combat mechanics to delve into.

The “Call to Arms” update will not only bring 18 fresh weapons (which include 9 wooden ones for sparring and training), but also 2 new armor sets and numerous other additions. A notable aspect of this update will be enhancing slope fighting, an issue that has been frequently mentioned in the past by players. Although the trailer does not go into specifics about the update, there are hints suggesting slope combat in it.

Players are now able to try out some fresh hairdo variations and five distinct beard styles, including the long-awaited handlebar mustache.
