Lord of the Mysteries is a hit online novel from China that blends steampunk, fantasy, and the creepy horror of H.P. Lovecraft. The story centers around Klein Moretti, who unexpectedly becomes involved in the supernatural after finding a strange object. He finds himself in a world reminiscent of Victorian England, complete with airships, guns, hidden organizations, and bizarre creatures. An animated series based on the novel premiered in 2025, and a video game adaptation is currently being developed. As part of the game’s promotion, the developers at SPARK NEXA created social media accounts, but they overlooked a crucial detail.
They made it way too easy for a troll
The game, Lord of the Mysteries, is very early in development. So far, there’s only a brief video showing the game’s environments, a few screenshots, and a post on Mysteries X announcing that it will be a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) with a playtest planned for the near future. That’s all the information currently available on English social media, but there’s probably more information available in Chinese sources.
The team recently started promoting the game to international audiences. They’ve set up YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) accounts and connected them to the game’s website. However, those who visit the X account will find something unexpected.
The intended official account name, LOTM_Game_EN, was already claimed by another user. It appears SPARK NEXA, or the company publishing their game, tried to create the account too early, allowing someone else to register the username before they could.

Whoever is now managing the account is clearly making light of everything, and even jokingly suggested the developers reach out if they want to reclaim it. They also posted a Rickroll – a classic move that never fails to amuse.
