A new horror TV series, based on a popular graphic novel, is promising to be the most gruesome show on television, and fans are eagerly anticipating its release. Horror shows are now as intense as horror movies, with series like Hannibal, It: Welcome to Derry, American Horror Story (AHS), and Slasher already known for their graphic content. But this new show has the potential to be even more shocking.
I first discovered Something Is Killing The Children as a comic book series, and it quickly became a favorite! Created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera and published by BOOM! Studios, it really took off and gained a huge following. Now, it’s fantastic that the story is available in these beautiful graphic novel collections, an omnibus edition, and even an art book – it’s amazing to see how much it’s grown!
Blumhouse is developing Something Is Killing The Children as both a live-action film and an animated TV show for adults, and the two will be connected. Based on the graphic novels, a faithful adaptation promises to be incredibly violent and graphic – likely the most intense content on television.
Something Is Killing The Children Is Non-Stop Brutal Violence & Gore
Based on a popular book series, the upcoming horror show Something Is Killing the Children follows the mysterious disappearances of children in the town of Archer’s Peak. Those who return tell frightening tales of monsters, but no one takes them seriously—until Erica Slaughter arrives. She’s different; she can see the monsters and is determined to end the terror.
The story seems straightforward, but if you’re not familiar with the source material, be warned: it’s incredibly violent and gruesome, often reaching levels of extreme horror. This adaptation doesn’t hold back, depicting intense scenes of slashing, tearing, and brutal killings – both of monsters and humans – with graphic detail. Expect a lot of blood and gore.
Adapting Something Is Killing the Children will almost certainly require a very high level of gore, potentially disturbing even seasoned horror fans. This is particularly likely given reports that Blumhouse is prioritizing the creators’ original vision. Both James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera are executive producers, and Dell’Edera is also consulting on the visual design.
Something Is Killing The Children Will Show Children Getting Torn To Shreds
What sets Something Is Killing the Children apart from other violent shows is its willingness to depict extreme harm coming to its child characters. The comic doesn’t hold back, showing children being brutally injured and killed.
Horror movies and TV shows generally avoid showing the graphic deaths of children, though this boundary is being crossed more often now. The comic book series Something Is Killing The Children inherently violates this unwritten rule.

Adding to the horror, the monsters build their nests from the remains of children. While the animation might make it slightly less disturbing than a live-action version, the story itself remains incredibly intense.
What Is The Status Of Something Is Killing The Children?
Don’t expect to see a screen adaptation of Something Is Killing The Children anytime soon. The project was just announced in late October 2025, meaning it’s still in the very early stages of development. On the bright side, this gives fans a chance to reread the comics and enjoy their thrilling, gruesome details while we wait.
