Unstoppable Avowed Fighter Build: Dominate with the Ultimate Abilities and Companions!

In the game Avowed, you’ll encounter three unique character classes, but nothing compares to engaging the Dream Scourge up close as a melee combatant. To pull this off successfully, though, you should opt for an optimized Fighter build.

In our assessment, one standout feature of Avowed is its ability to let players shape their characters according to their preferred gameplay approach. This setup suits a character like the Fighter particularly well, as they relish engaging enemies at close quarters and guarding their teammates.

In other words, when you approach so closely, you should anticipate facing attacks and enduring harsh conflicts. To successfully navigate these challenges, it’s advisable to choose the optimal Fighter character build in the game Avowed.

Best build for a Fighter in Avowed: Sword and Shield

  • Background: War Hero
  • Attributes: 3 Might, 2 Constitution, 1 Dexterity, 1 Perception, 1 Intellect, 2 Resolve
  • Abilities: Charge, Constant Recovery, Toughness, Power Jump, Into the Fray, Retribution, Clear Out, Inspiring Triumph, Devastating Criticals
  • Weapons: The Emperor’s Reach, Nimanna’s Ward
  • Armor: Steel Garrote Plate, Tranton Family Greaves, Tranton Family Gauntlets
  • Companions: Marius and Giatta

In the game Avowed, an optimal Fighter build employs a sword and shield instead of a large two-handed weapon. Although armor offers great strength in this role-playing game, it doesn’t ensure survival quite like a shield does. The additional damage reduction and block provided by the shield can effectively double your chances of staying alive.

Attributes

During character creation, you’ll want to put the following points into your Attributes:

  • 3 Might
  • 2 Constitution
  • 1 Dexterity
  • 1 Perception
  • 1 Intellect
  • 2 Resolve

At the outset of Avowed, you’ll start with just ten points to allocate, and you’re limited to boosting an Attribute to a maximum of three. But as you progress through levels, consider prioritizing Might for damage and carrying capacity, Constitution for health and resistance, and Resolve for stamina.

In this scenario, you’ll find yourself at the leading edge of the conflict. This implies that both your offensive capabilities (damage and health) are crucial for defeating the enemy, while your defensive attributes (stamina for blocking and dodging) will help you withstand their counterattacks.

Besides this, it’s advisable to allocate some points into Perception to boost your chances of hitting, followed by Dexterity for faster attack speed. It would be best to overlook Intellect as you won’t need much of it since the consumption of potions can manage most of your Essence needs.

Abilities

As soon as you launch Avowed, you’ll find yourself eagerly grabbing the Charge ability. This enables you to swiftly charge forward, shattering obstacles and adversaries with powerful Explosive Damage. Additionally, it interrupts your target, offering you a brief window to land a few additional blows.

Afterward, opt for the “Continuous Recovery” feature. Throughout your gaming experience, you may encounter health deficits, particularly if you’re not adequately equipped for a fight. Consequently, having 50% of the last amount of health lost gradually restored will lessen some of that strain and could potentially save your character from death on multiple instances.

To ensure a steady recovery, opt for the attribute known as Toughness. This boosts your maximum health by an impressive 20%. Enhance it regularly, especially when you find yourself facing difficulties maintaining your health beyond what your strength provides. As a result, your resilience and ability to withstand damage will significantly improve.

Upon achieving level ten, acquire the ability called Power Jump. This move enables you to smash down on the ground, disrupting opponents. Not only does it create quite an impressive arrival, but it also offers opportunities for additional attacks, and as it’s upgraded to Rank Two, it becomes more effective at dealing damage to them over time.

After progressing, once you hit level 15, make sure to prioritize the unlocking of “Into the Fray” and then “Retribution.” This will allow you to draw an enemy closer to you. In return, when they attack you, your subsequent strike will inflict damage equal to approximately 70% of the damage initially sustained, which is quite a formidable retaliation. Strive to upgrade “Retribution” to Rank Three as soon as possible.

At level 20, it’s wise to acquire Clear Out and Inspiring Triumph. The Clear Out ability will engulf nearby foes in a whirlwind, making you invulnerable to interruptions. It’s a powerful attack that’s ideal for dealing with the increased number of enemies at this level. Additionally, Inspiring Triumph restores the health of your companions, reducing the pressure on you in battle.

Beyond these skills, you might also consider exploring the options for enhancing Devastating Criticals and Agility within the Ranger’s skill set. Since you’re opting for a one-handed weapon with a shield, boosting your weapon’s damage becomes quite strategic.

Weapons

In the game Avowed, it’s clear that The Emperor’s Reach is unquestionably the superior sword for the Fighter. You can discover this powerful weapon in a small pond situated in the southwest region of Shatterscarp. This sword packs quite a punch, dealing massive damage, and has an added effect of temporarily stunning nearby Kith (humanoids). Furthermore, slaying an enemy grants you a temporary boost in Health, Attack Damage, and Move Speed if you select the Triumph of Conquest Enchantment at the camp. You’ll receive +15% Attack Damage and +20% Move Speed for eight seconds.

By incorporating the Nimanna’s Ward shield, obtained from the chest during the Trial of Wisdom in the Shadows of the Past main quest, you’ll acquire a minor setback of -5% Damage to Spirits. However, this disadvantage is offset by the benefit of temporarily increasing your health when you successfully parry. Given its primary role as protection, it’s an ideal fit for you.

Armor

For your Armor, we suggest going for the following:

  • Steel Garrote Plate
  • Tranton Family Greaves
  • Tranton Family Gauntlets
  • Wildwalker Ring
  • Ring of the Founder

As a dedicated combatant, I can’t help but sing praises for the Steel Garrote Plate. This armor shines brightest for those who wield heavy weaponry, offering exceptional benefits. It not only bolsters your Constitution, but also reflects back 50% of any damage exceeding 25% of your maximum health to your attacker. When coupled with Retribution, you’ll find yourself dishing out damage without needing many of your own attacks, making enemies quiver at your might!

You can get the Steel Garrote Plate by completing the Nacib bounty.

As a dedicated fan, I must commend the Tranton Family Greaves and Gauntlets – an impressive pair that I managed to secure upon completing the Tranton bounty. The Greaves significantly boost my maximum health by 20 points, making me more resilient in close calls. Moreover, they grant me a 20% extended Dodge Distance, ensuring I can evade danger with grace and agility. To top it off, these bad boys also bestow a 10% speed increase, proving invaluable when I find myself in tight spots.

The Gauntlets enhance your power attack damage by +5 and additionally grant a +5% bonus shock damage, making them ideal for a decisive, heavy blow or when you require a strong strike to breach an opponent’s defense.

In summary, pick up both the Wildwalker Ring and the Ring of the Founder. The former will ensure a constant 50% health regeneration, while the latter adds an extra 10% damage against enemies with full health. You can locate the Wildwalker Ring in ‘The Garden near the Broken Aqueduct’ and the Ring of the Founder within the ‘Emerald Stair inside the Ancient Grotto’.

Companions

The best companions to accompany your fighter in Avowed are Marius and Giatta.

As a devoted admirer, I’d enthusiastically assert that Giatta earns an S-tier ranking on our companion roster, primarily due to her exceptional support capabilities. Her healing abilities are nothing short of miraculous, ensuring Marius and myself stay hale and hearty in the thickest battles. The timely deployment of her shields or speed boosts is uncanny, always arriving when we need them most. This remarkable companion has a knack for resurrecting fallen comrades, making her an indispensable ally for any melee warrior.

By adding Marius to the team, you complete the ideal squad. Giatta serves as our healer, I provide the tank role, while Marius excels in dealing damage from a distance. He’s an exceptional damage dealer and controller, making him a perfect fit for enhancing your combat style.

How to play

In the role of a Fighter wielding a sword and shield, you’ll want to become proficient in three key areas:

1. Determining the optimal moment for an attack,
2. Recognizing when to deflect with your shield, and
3. Anticipating when to evade.

Pay close attention to their offensive moves, and over time, you’ll naturally learn:

– If they’re executing a powerful strike, dodge out of the way,
– If it appears to be a light attack, stay put and deflect with your shield,
– And then, following these defensive maneuvers, land as many counterattacks as possible.

We propose entering the battlefield stealthily, identifying the strongest adversary, and then utilizing your Charge to rush towards them. This maneuver will disrupt them, allowing you to deliver some powerful blows. Alternatively, if you’re above your enemy, utilize your Power Jump to initiate combat from a heightened position.

Later on, continue to draw the adversaries towards you using Into The Fray, relying on your healing capabilities and parry skills to stay alive. Should situations become challenging, trigger Giatta’s healing and employ Marius’ control spells to maintain enemy positions while you gulp down a potion and ready yourself for another fight.

In the end, just focus on evading, counterattacking, and defending yourself. Remember though, even with a robust health system and fast recovery, you’re still mortal, so don’t overestimate your invincibility; expect some damage to take effect.
