United Airlines is launching a new ‘Relax Row’ with seats that feature adjustable leg rests, allowing passengers to fully recline and lie down comfortably during their flights.
United announced the new feature on March 24, 2026, with a video demonstrating the adjustable leg rests in action.
If you choose a Relax Row seat, you’ll get a mattress pad, blanket, and two pillows to help you relax and be more comfortable.
Passengers traveling with children will receive a cuddly plush toy and a special travel kit created with Sesame Street. This kit includes fun activities like sliding puzzles and calming sensory strips to help keep kids happy and occupied during their flight.
Enjoy having an entire row to yourself! Welcome to United Relax Row, featuring three Economy seats with adjustable leg rests that lift up to create a comfortable, lie-flat space for relaxing. We’ll also provide a mattress pad, blanket, and two pillows. If…

As a frequent flyer, I’m really excited about this! Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until 2027 to try out the new Relax Rows. But it sounds worth the wait – they’re planning to put them on over 200 of their Boeing 787 and 777 planes, and each of those planes will have up to 12 of these comfy rows!
United becomes first US airline to introduce lie-flat economy seating
Relax Rows aren’t limited to couples or small groups – anyone, even a solo traveler, can book an entire row for themselves.
United Airlines is dedicated to providing customers with innovative and top-quality travel experiences, and their new Relax Rows are a great illustration of this commitment, according to Andrew Nocella, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer.
We want to give passengers flying United Economy on long-distance flights a more comfortable experience with extra space, and United Relax Row is how we’re doing that. As the only North American airline to offer this feature, it’s just one of the ways we’re building lasting relationships with our customers.

United hasn’t announced prices for these new seats yet, but they are right to point out that they’re the only American airline currently offering fully lie-flat seating in economy class.
I’ve noticed some international airlines are really stepping up their game! Companies like Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, and Lufthansa are now offering lie-flat seats in economy, which is awesome. It looks like this trend is even starting to spread here in the USA, and I’m hoping more airlines follow suit – seriously, a comfy flight makes all the difference!
