The groundbreaking documentary series, titled “Recording Evil,” which uncovers the biggest espionage operation during World War II, has commenced shooting on three different continents.

The documentary titled “Recording Evil” was produced by KAN 11, Israel’s Public Broadcaster, to honor the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This documentary is based on tens of thousands of declassified British intelligence documents and uncovers candid conversations between Nazi officers and soldiers who were prisoners of war during WWII. These conversations were recorded in British internment facilities without the knowledge of the prisoners, as hidden listening devices were installed there. This allowed for free and open discussions about their role in the Holocaust, providing previously unreleased details that have not been publicly disclosed before.

Filming is taking place now at various historical sites throughout the United Kingdom, such as studios and repositories where the original recordings of Nazi prisoner interviews were captured and preserved. The documentary will also capture footage in Germany, America, and Israel, where scholars and historians have spent numerous years examining an archive containing over 150,000 transcribed pages.

We’re filming at different historical sites across the U.K., Germany, the U.S., and Israel for our documentary. These are places where the original interviews with Nazi prisoners were recorded and stored, and where researchers have spent years studying a massive archive containing thousands of transcribed pages.

The movie titled “Recording Evil” was created by directors Danny Liber and Yaron Niski, who are also responsible for the current broadcast of their latest work, “Carlos the Jackal,” which can be seen on Kan and BBC’s Storyville at present.

In a time when Holocaust denial and antisemitism are increasing worldwide, ‘Recording Evil’ offers a vital piece to the truth of history,” stated Gili Fried-Gaon, head of documentaries at KAN 11. “These unheard testimonies, recorded in real-time with no alteration, offer unique perspective into one of humanity’s most troubling periods. As a public broadcaster, it is our responsibility to share this significant project with both Israeli and international viewers as part of our dedication to preserving historical memory.

The documentary is set to debut on KAN 11 in May, and viewers can look forward to it being presented as both a full-length movie and a three-part series. This marks the first occasion these previously secret transcripts, locked away for six decades within British archives, will be shown on television with such clarity.
