Umamusume fans help raise $400,000 for Transcend’s retirement farm

Fans of the game Umamusume have donated over $400,000 to a Japanese farm that cares for retired racehorses, including Transcend, a former champion.

Versailles Farm is crowdfunding to build a fourth stable, giving its retired horses more comfortable living spaces. They’ve currently raised around $400,000 (¥62,398,000) and are getting close to their $450,000 goal.

Transcend, a celebrated dirt racing champion famous for winning big races like the Japan Cup Dirt, now enjoys his retirement at Versailles Farm. He lives there with other former racehorses who need ongoing care.

Uma fans help raise over $400k for Transcend retirement

Transcend’s popularity has grown far beyond her original fanbase in Japan, especially since she was featured in the game Umamusume: Pretty Derby. This successful game has introduced the former racehorse to people all over the world, and that increased interest is now helping retirement farms like Versailles receive more support.

The farm has successfully raised its first ¥50 million (about $320,000) and can now build a new stable that will be safer and more comfortable for all the animals, both current and future. With only two weeks left in the fundraising campaign, supporters are working hard to reach the final goal before it ends on December 28th.

Umamusume fans have supported real-life racehorses before. Recently, on December 17th, they came together to raise over $600,000 to help rebuild the stables for the famous horse, Meisho Doto.

Fans from around the world have often sent Haru Urara gifts of fresh grass. Dedicated supporters have also gone to great lengths – even traveling across Japan – to visit retirement farms for horses that inspired the Umamusume characters, donating to their care.
