Ufotable and Production I.G. to celebrate Tales Of 30th Anniversary with a new concert and anime illustrations

So, Ufotable finally spilled the beans on how they’re celebrating 30 years of Tales Of! They teased something a while back in February, and now we know what it is. They’re doing a cool anime illustration project, and even better, they’re holding a live concert in Tokushima, Japan. I’m seriously hoping they stream that concert – it sounds amazing!

The initial project will deliver a total of 188 new illustrations in an anime style, featuring both standard and chibi versions of characters from the main games in the Tales series. The first two games to be highlighted are Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Xillia.

Ufotable is partnering with Production I.G. on this new project. Akira Matsushima and Tokuyuki Matsutake will be the lead illustrators.

The next event is a special concert as part of Machi Asobi, taking place at Aibahama Park Stage in Tokushima on Sunday, May 17th at 6:00 PM Japan Standard Time. The concert will highlight Tales of Zestiria the X, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

The concert will star Go Shiina, both as a bandleader and performing a solo piano set. It will also include performances by artists who created theme songs for the anime, including FLOW (known for “Kaze no Uta,” “BURN,” and “INNOSENSE”), Minami Kuribayashi (who sang the second opening theme, “illuminate”), and fhána (who performed the first ending theme, “calling”).
