Ubisoft may have accidentally revealed issues with new version of the cult game. Splinter Cell Remake loses director for second time

Okay, so it’s looking pretty rough for the Splinter Cell Remake. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about it, and now I’m seeing reports that the director at Ubisoft Toronto has left the project. Apparently, they’re already looking for someone new to take the lead. Honestly, it’s a bit discouraging as a fan, and makes me wonder when – or if – we’ll actually get to play this game.

Tech4Gamers spotted a job posting that specifically mentioned development of the Splinter Cell Remake. While Ubisoft quickly took the listing down from its website, screenshots were captured before it disappeared.

The job posting shows the new director will oversee all the core parts of how the game plays—including how gadgets work, how enemies act, and how Sam Fisher moves and feels. This level of responsibility usually means the previous director has moved on to other projects, as this role involves significantly shaping the game’s final experience.

This isn’t the first time a major developer has left the Splinter Cell Remake project. Back in 2022, David Grivel, a long-time Ubisoft employee and the initial director of the remake of the classic 2002 game, moved on to other work.

The most recent update on the game came from the company’s CFO, Frederick Duguet, who said in July that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is nearly finished and will be released before the Splinter Cell Remake.

Ubisoft hasn’t officially commented, and removing the original announcement is only making people speculate more about the game’s progress.
