Ubisoft Lifts The Veil On The Animus Hub, The “New Home” For The Assassin’s Creed Series

2022 saw Ubisoft unveil Assassin’s Creed Infinity during their Assassin’s Creed Showcase at Ubisoft Forward. This new project, known as “Infinity,” is essentially a central point or platform for the popular Assassin’s Creed series. As explained by series executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté, Infinity is not intended to be a traditional game but rather an entryway into the world of Assassin’s Creed, paving the way for future experiences within this franchise.

After the initial reveal, only a few specifics have been disclosed to the public, such as it being a “joint effort between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec,” as stated in an official announcement. Additionally, it was previously mentioned by VGC at the time of the announcement that Assassin’s Creed Infinity would not be released for several more years. However, Ubisoft has recently disclosed fresh details about Assassin’s Creed Infinity, including its official platform name: “the Animus Hub.

Ubisoft shared fresh details about Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which is now called the Animus Hub – your central hub for all things Assassin’s Creed – in a blog post on January 23rd, 2025. Importantly, the Animus Hub isn’t a standalone application but will be deeply integrated with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft has clarified that they have no plans to release it as a separate entity.

In this upcoming Assassin’s Creed game for consoles and PC, players will be immediately plunged into a fresh “entry point” that takes them straight into a reworked Animus setting, often referred to as the “hacked Dark Animus of Assassin’s Creed’s contemporary reality.” As soon as you step foot in this innovative environment, you’ll have the chance to explore an entire chronology filled with recent Assassin’s Creed characters and other prominent figures. Additionally, this new setting offers exclusive questlines within Shadows, and by advancing through the game, you can collect unique prizes.

The publisher has shared essential details about the Animus Hub and its capabilities, set to debut simultaneously with Assassin’s Creed Shadows on 20th March 2025 for both consoles and PC. As stated in the previous post, this interactive platform encompasses “Memories, Projects, the Exchange, and the Vault,” enabling players to delve into the past histories of former heroes.

According to Ubisoft, the Animus Hub will become available for what they call “Phase 2 titles,” which are the recently released Assassin’s Creed games: Mirage, Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins. However, you’ll need to have these games already installed on your device to access them through the Animus Hub. For those with physical copies of these games, just pop the disc into your drive before starting up the game/s.

I regret to inform you that any Assassin’s Creed games launched before Origins won’t work with the Animus Hub. However, Ubisoft has mentioned that this platform will continue to develop and expand, offering new features and content in the near and distant future. Once inside the Animus, players can find “Anomalies” using the Projects feature, which lead to new missions within the Shadows. These missions can also be accessed directly from the Target Board within the game itself.

Once players stumble upon these “anomalies” hidden within the Projects section, they can work to resolve them and receive Animus Keys as rewards, which it’s been made clear cannot be bought with actual money. In other words, content that is available in the present day through the Vault may appear in Shadows; however, Ubisoft has promised more investigation into this connection as the Animus Hub progresses and develops over time.

Players can gain access to entirely free, exclusive items within the Animus Hub by successfully finishing in-game missions. These new missions will be regularly added through content updates at no additional cost. Moreover, Ubisoft has confirmed that the Animus Hub is always accessible offline; however, its live features like Projects, the Exchange, and the Vault necessitate an internet connection for their operation.
