It’s been thirty years since the original Heroes of Might & Magic game came out! This week, Ubisoft marked the anniversary by adding two of the beloved classic games to the PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate libraries.
So, Ubisoft had a big 30th anniversary stream for Heroes of Might & Magic, and they dropped some awesome news – Heroes of Might & Magic II: Gold and Heroes of Might & Magic III: Complete are now on Game Pass! Seriously, I’m stoked. And Ubisoft’s Chris Watters said something that really hit home – he thinks this is the perfect way to get a new generation hooked on these classic games and learn some seriously cool (and maybe a little weird) words like ‘throng’ and ‘necromancy’. He even threw in ‘logistics’ – apparently, building your army isn’t just about power, it’s about *planning*! It’s great to see these games getting some love.
Ubisoft announced that the new Heroes of Might & Magic game, Olden Era, won’t be released until 2026. However, a playable demo is available right now on Steam. This is the first installment in the series since Might & Magic Heroes 7 came out in 2015.
During the livestream, they also highlighted the “Heroes of Might & Magic: 30th Anniversary Retrospective” book. You can preorder it now on Amazon for $55, and it will be released on November 25th.
Laura Fryer, an early member of the Xbox team, recently criticized Microsoft’s price increase for Game Pass, calling it a letdown for players who trusted the company. She believes this generation of Xbox consoles will likely be remembered more for Microsoft prioritizing profits than for innovation or player experience.
