Tyler Perry, known as one of Hollywood’s top earners, is now facing a sexual assault lawsuit. Actor Mario Rodriguez alleges Perry made unwanted sexual advances on multiple occasions, including an incident in 2018 where Perry allegedly hugged him tightly and inappropriately touched him. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and stems from their work on Perry’s 2016 film, Boo! A Madea Halloween.
Tyler Perry is a major player in Hollywood, particularly at Netflix, where he has a lucrative deal to produce numerous shows and films. While critics and viewers often haven’t been impressed with his work, it consistently attracts large audiences. Perry is now facing another lawsuit this year, following a claim made in June by an actor from his BET show, The Oval.
I’m really disturbed by the allegations coming out about Tyler Perry. Apparently, Rodriguez, who was an actor in Boo! A Madea Halloween, is filing a lawsuit claiming sexual assault and emotional distress. He says that back in 2015, while visiting Perry’s home, Perry touched his leg and rubbed near his genitals, and even said it was “alright.” It’s awful, and Rodriguez is also seeking financial compensation from Lionsgate, saying they knew about Perry’s behavior and didn’t do anything.
Tyler Perry Responded To the New Allegations

Alex Spiro, Perry’s lawyer, has dismissed the claims as a baseless attempt to get money. He stated that the lawyer making these accusations previously failed in a similar case against Perry and will likely fail again.
A previous accusation against director Perry came from actor Derek Dixon, who alleged Perry forcibly grabbed him and made unwanted physical contact. That initial complaint, first made in California, is now being handled by a federal court in Georgia.

I’ve been following this case, and it’s disturbing to hear the new allegations. Apparently, Rodriguez claims Perry touched him again in 2019 and made a concerning offer – that if Rodriguez would be with him, Perry would take care of him and he’d never have to worry. This is similar to an incident Rodriguez alleges happened in 2018. What’s even more troubling is the claim that Perry paid Rodriguez $5,000 after each incident, supposedly as an apology. From what I understand, Rodriguez was considering filing his own lawsuit after hearing about the case brought by Dixon.
He understood that Tyler Perry was still abusing his position of power to sexually assault aspiring actors. Joining with others who felt the same way, he decided it was time to speak out, seek justice, and put an end to Perry’s behavior.
