Two spacecraft set to fly through 3I/ATLAS’s tail as alien tech theories run wild

Two spacecraft are heading towards 3I/ATLAS, a strange object from outside our solar system. Some speculate it could even be a massive alien spacecraft.

3I/ATLAS is just the third interstellar object—something from outside our solar system—that scientists have ever found. It’s unusual because of how it glows, how fast it spins, and the possibility that it creates its own light. While NASA believes it’s a comet, others disagree. Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, for example, thinks there’s a 40% chance it could be a piece of alien technology.

This comet is unusual because astronomers haven’t been able to clearly see its ion tail – but that could be about to change. A fortunate alignment of two spacecraft may soon provide a clearer view.

Spacecrafts en route for interstellar visitor 3I/ATLAS

Both the Europa Clipper and Hera spacecraft are predicted to pass through the ion tail of comet 3I/ATLAS on October 29th.

NASA’s Europa Clipper is a major mission to study Jupiter’s icy moon. Meanwhile, the Hera spacecraft from the European Space Agency is traveling to the Didymos-Dimorphos asteroid pair. Interestingly, the current timing means both spacecraft are expected to pass through the possible path of a debris tail.

While Hera won’t be gathering data, Europa Clipper might be able to, depending on how the solar wind behaves between October 30th and November 6th.

3I/ATLAS alien tech theories continue

Okay, so Loeb is *really* convinced this thing isn’t a typical asteroid. He’s been saying it might be some kind of alien spacecraft, a mothership even! He thinks when it gets closest to the sun on October 29th, one of two things will happen: it’ll break apart like a normal comet, or… well, it’ll do something totally unexpected. It’s honestly pretty exciting to watch and see what happens!

Loeb suggests that if the object doesn’t break apart, it might deploy smaller probes, acting like a kind of technological mothership.

An astrophysicist is advising world leaders to get ready for the possibility of encountering alien life. In an interview with TopMob, he pointed out that we currently have no established procedures for dealing with the discovery of alien technology near Earth. He’s formally requested the United Nations to develop a global plan for responding to such an event, submitting a detailed report outlining the need for preparation.

He explained that someone in their yard needed help right away, as they might be in danger.

Loeb proposes that the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS might have sent a signal to Earth years ago, and some people believe this could be related to the famous “Wow!” signal detected in 1977. This idea has generated a lot of discussion and speculation online.

This spacecraft flyby is happening at a time when people are already talking a lot about possible life beyond Earth, especially after NASA announced new findings that might suggest ancient life once existed on Mars.

We’ll find out on October 29th if comet 3I/ATLAS is just another space rock or something truly special. Whatever happens, it’s sure to be a Halloween nobody will forget.
