Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has responded to concerns about Amazon’s view of the streaming platform, after reports suggested Amazon considers Twitch to be a declining brand – a ‘zombie brand.’
Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion about how Twitch is doing under its owner, Amazon. Twitch has gone through several rounds of job cuts, and some people believe Amazon doesn’t prioritize the platform because it’s been losing a significant amount of money for them.
Some of Amazon’s competitors are suggesting that Amazon could stop supporting Twitch before 2027. This might involve selling Twitch to another company, or completely closing it down, similar to what happened with Mixer and Facebook Gaming.
Even though people have been saying those things, and viewership is down to its lowest point in five years, Twitch hasn’t changed how it does things.
Twitch CEO says Amazon is ‘taking care’ of platform
I was really interested to hear Twitch CEO Dan Clancy talking on Bloomberg Technology. He basically said that Amazon is fully supporting Twitch and making sure it stays strong – it’s good to know they’re being taken care of!
Clancy explained that Amazon has been a strong supporter of their work. He added that Twitch provides Amazon with a way to connect with a younger demographic, which he believes is a key benefit for the company.
Instead of exploring new ways to utilize Twitch, they’ve primarily focused on supporting and investing in its existing community – acting as excellent caretakers.

Clancy also pointed out that Amazon understands the need to support and nurture Twitch, ensuring it isn’t harmed by their actions.
Twitch’s leadership isn’t worried about losing ground to competitors anytime soon, and they downplayed Kick’s challenge, suggesting it’s still a relatively small platform compared to Twitch, which is owned by Amazon.
