Twisted Metal Coming Back For Season 3 But Loses A Key Person, Report Says

Okay, so good news for anyone who enjoyed the Twisted Metal show on Peacock – it looks like we’re getting a season three! Variety is reporting it’s happening, but there’s a bit of a change behind the scenes. Apparently, the showrunner and one of the creators, Michael Jonathan Smith, won’t be involved this time around. Still excited though – more car combat is always a win in my book!

According to a Hollywood industry publication, David Reed, a writer from The Boys, is taking over as showrunner and will also be an executive producer, as part of an agreement with Sony Pictures Television. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who previously worked on Deadpool and co-created Twisted Metal, are expected to return for the show’s third season.

The second season of Twisted Metal premiered in July and quickly became a popular success for Peacock, ranking as one of the platform’s most-watched returning original series.

Season 2 features Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, and Anthony Carrigan. Samoa Joe provides the physical performance for the character Sweet Tooth, while Will Arnett provides the voice.

The Twisted Metal TV series is being made by PlayStation Productions, the team behind adapting PlayStation games for film and television. They’re currently working on several projects, including movies based on Horizon, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, and Helldivers, as well as a TV show based on God of War.

Despite positive reception, Twisted Metal wasn’t nominated for Best Adaptation at The Game Awards. The nominees in that category were A Minecraft Movie, the Devil May Cry TV series, The Last of Us: Season 2, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, and the Until Dawn movie.
