As a gamer who remembers the thrill of hunting dinosaurs in the primeval jungle with Turok back in the day, hearing about the return of this iconic franchise is like finding an old friend at a reunion. The third-person perspective and modern graphics are just the cherry on top!
Turok is making a comeback! During The Game Awards, Saber Interactive unveiled Turok: Origins, marking the first installment in the Turok series since 2008. The initial trailer had an impressive cinematic feel and hinted at some gameplay snippets, signaling a significant change from past games – the perspective has switched to third-person view.
In this action-packed adventure, you’ll step into the role of a Turok warrior, battling not only ferocious dinosaurs but also an extraterrestrial menace. Your arsenal includes traditional weapons like bows, shotguns, and futuristic plasma rifles. Gathering DNA will enhance your power suit, making it more advanced in appearance while also improving skills, offering new abilities. The trailer hints at the multiplayer option, enabling you to join forces with friends to tackle the dinosaur invasion. A sneak peek of the gameplay resembles the Horizon series, offering a third-person perspective against rampaging dinosaurs.
Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive, stated in the announcement that Turok was one of the earliest console shooters he had ever played. He went on to say that among the game franchises they thought needed a revival, Turok stood out as a top choice. At Saber Interactive, they enjoy breathing new life into classic intellectual properties and updating them with contemporary mechanics. They’re thrilled to announce the upcoming game, but will be even more pleased when they can deliver this nostalgic gaming experience with a modern twist.
Turok: Origins will come to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
